Today's SOTD is Maison Margiela Replica Jazz Club, and this is another sample that doesn't need to audition for a spot in my collection. I've already bought the full bottle.
Jazz Club is one of those fragrances that seems tailor-made for autumn and winter. Tobacco, rum, vanilla, pink pepper, and woods create a wonderfully warm, boozy atmosphere. It's rich and cozy, with just enough smokiness to give it character without becoming overwhelming.
I wore it today while running errands, and admittedly, the weather was probably a little warmer than ideal for this kind of fragrance. But every time I caught another whiff of it throughout the day, I was reminded why I bought the bottle in the first place.
There's something particularly appealing about the way the rum and tobacco blend with that smooth vanilla sweetness. It's a little dark, a little indulgent, and wonderfully comfortable to wear. And despite the name and the atmosphere it evokes, I don't think you need to be sitting in a dimly lit cocktail lounge to enjoy it.
Apparently, running errands works just fine.
Jazz Club made a respectable run in my recent 40-fragrance tournament, and revisiting it today confirms that I'm very happy to have it in the collection.
Current status: Full bottle already secured. Sample being used up. Looking forward to wearing this one a lot more when the weather finally cools down.
