Today I’m testing Purpose 50 from a decant. The long-term plan is to compare it side by side with the Purpose EDP, but for now this is just a straight wear of the 50 percent extrait on its own.
Right off the spray I got a quick burst of citrus, but it didn’t hang around long. Purpose 50 feels much drier compared to what I expected, and I think that makes sense with a formula that has such a high oil concentration. The opening doesn’t really “pop” the way some Amouage scents do.
As it settles, I’m picking up this faint powdery wood vibe. I didn’t look up the notes before wearing it, so I’m going in blind, but what I’m smelling so far is dry woods, a little spice, and this soft almost dusty feel. I went a little heavy on the sprays, but it still doesn’t feel overpowering, which again probably comes from the extrait concentration sitting closer to the skin.
Not sure yet where the drydown is heading, but this is an interesting start. Going to let it develop and see how it behaves over the next few hours.
