Raw Materials - Bergamot
Bergamot, scientifically known as Citrus bergamia, is a citrus fruit primarily grown in Italy's Calabria region. Resembling an orange in size and a lime in color, it is pear-shaped. The fruit's essential oil, extracted from its peel, is used in perfumery, cosmetics, and aromatherapy for its refreshing, slightly floral fragrance. Bergamot is the key flavoring in Earl Grey tea and is also used in culinary applications like marmalades and desserts. Additionally, it has traditional medicinal uses due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mood-enhancing properties. Its essential oil contains compounds such as linalool, linalyl acetate, and bergapten.
Bergamot is a prominent ingredient in men's fragrances, prized for its refreshing and sophisticated scent. The essential oil imparts a citrusy, slightly floral aroma that adds brightness and elegance to colognes and aftershaves. Often used as a top note, bergamot provides an initial burst of freshness that is both invigorating and uplifting. Its versatile scent profile blends well with other fragrance components like lavender, cedarwood, and sandalwood, enhancing the complexity and depth of the overall fragrance. The inclusion of bergamot in men's fragrances not only contributes to a clean and crisp olfactory experience but also imparts a timeless and classic appeal, making it a staple in the industry.
Smelling my sample of bergamot: Fresh citrus, but not strong orange, more like white-washed orange. It also has a sense of greenery too. The aroma is a blend of bright, citrusy notes and a slightly delicate floral undertone. It's as if the zest of a fresh orange rind has mingled with the subtle sweetness of a blooming flower. There's a crisp, invigorating quality that wakes up my senses, yet it's softened by a hint of warmth that feels comforting and familiar. The scent is both refreshing and elegant, evoking a sense of calmness and natural serenity.…
