Prada Paradigme EDP (1/3)
So this one is crazy hyped and luckily i was able to get a sample of it early on so here is my review after the first wear.
Before i review the fragrance itself i think its important to talk about the perfumers behind it.
• Bruno Jovanovic: Perfumer behind famous frags like A&F Fierce, Coach for men, Armani My way, Boss The Scent Absolute and Pure XS.
• Marie Salamagne: Perfumer behind Coach Green, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom, Maison Margiela By The Fireplace, Polo 67 EDT and YSL Black Opium.
• Nicolas Bonneville: Most notable for Azzaro TMW EDT Intense and JPG Scandal Intense.
Now id like you to remember some of their creations because this one has a few overlapping qualities.
It opens up nice and fresh for a split second and then you’re instantly hit with sweet florals and benzoin. Thats 90% of the fragrance in the first 10 seconds. The geranium is really good with one being rose geranium and the other one being bourbon. For a complete unbiased review I didnt see the note breakdown before trying and I could still pick out the 2 different geraniums by the way they come off. The benzoin is the classic JPG Elixir kinda one. Sweet and ambery with that resinous vanilla smell. Only after you give it a few minutes the balsamic nature unfolds. A touch acidic to balance the sweetness and the wood enhances the overall drydown.
I can describe this one as a sweet, floral and balsamic scent thats very youthful and casual. And the name Paradigme is perfect because they have taken a completely new approach (DNA)
Now do i like it or recommend this one? It depends.
I personally wouldn’t go for this one because this one is an amalgamation of 2-3 different fragrances you have already smelled in a prada bottle. The closest similarities are YSL Ys youthful sweetness, Valentino BIR Uomo Intense’s vanilla profile, Paco Rabanne’s sweetness and boldness and as mentioned previously, JPGs balsamic profile. I can name a few more like Polo 67, Armani My way, Valentino Yellow Dream, and the list goes on. Similar to the perfumer’s previous creations.
Its not unique at all but that doesn’t mean it smells bad. The reason why i am a bit disappointed is because its missing the prada elegance. They basically made a Paco Rabanne or JPG type of fragrance but better and with higher quality ingredients.
Performance is solid tho. 8+ hours with 3 hour projection. Its claims to be a year round scent but id say only at night times or use it from early fall till late winter.
Overall after my first wear id give it a 8/10. Sexy, Easy to gift, better suited for the younger population, good quality and good smelling fragrance. To me, Its like the movie Ready Player One. Its just built on other movies, novels and references but its still a very good movie. For a non-frag person who probably wouldn’t have smelled the JPGs or the Rabannes or the Valentinos, this would be an instant ‘wow’ fragrance. Im knocking points off for how mainstream and safe it smells with no trace of the prada DNA whatsoever. This could be the new gen blue fragrance from Prada.
Has anyone else tried it? What do you think of this fragrance?
