Match #27 in the second-chance bracket feels like it could have been a main-bracket matchup. It features two surprise first-round losers: Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Parfum. Unfortunately, one outstanding designer fragrance is about to leave the tournament for good.

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum (2014, created by Jacques Polge) has earned its reputation through sheer versatility. Grapefruit, incense, ginger, cedar, and sandalwood come together in a fragrance that's polished enough for the office, refined enough for an evening out, and easy to wear almost any time of year.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Parfum (2023) is elegant in its own right, with a crisp blend of vetiver, citrus, saffron, and woods. It's sophisticated and beautifully put together, but if I'm being honest, it's probably not even my favorite vetiver fragrance.

This one wasn't as difficult as I expected. I genuinely enjoy Grey Vetiver, but Bleu de Chanel is simply one of those fragrances that does everything well. Its combination of sophistication and versatility is hard to beat.

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum advances, while Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Parfum is eliminated from the tournament.
