This one has a long name, not gonna lie. I’ll just call it MFK GFS for this post. I wanted to wear something clean and fresh today and decided to go with this one. Here’s what I think about GFS:
The opening is pretty nice—fresh, citrusy, with a touch of juicy fruitiness. Juniper and nutmeg were the most prominent for me. The bright freshness settles into a balanced semi-freshness as it dries down. The coriander adds some more spiciness, and I started getting the amber and musk along with it. The musk was the most prominent note for me. Once it had fully dried down, you get a hint of sweetness from vanilla and amber, and the woods take over. Clean, musky, and woody, and it stays like that for a while.
I think the quality and the blend are great. No complaints there. Just by smelling this, you know it’s expensive. It almost smells like a soap used in five-star hotels. It has the soapy aspect but toned down. A well-rounded and unique scent for hotter days.
Performance is not bad: 6–8 hours with around 3 hours of projection. For me, it was a more intimate scent. It doesn’t scream for attention and projects a maximum of about one foot. The fragrance develops differently on clothes and lasts longer there, but it has a slightly synthetic edge.
Price is something I’m not happy about. 70 ml for £185. If my math is correct, that comes out to 33p a spray (just needed an excuse to flaunt my math skills). It’s not that good of a smell for me to drop this much. If it were £100–120, I would be instantly buying but i understand it has the MFK name tag. Maybe I’m biased because I can never see myself spending too much on a freshie. Perhaps a few more wears will help me decide if I like it or not. The performance also doesn’t justify the price. Prada L’Homme is something I can wear that performs and smells better in my opinion. But opinions can change with time. These are my current thoughts.
That being said, I would give it a 7.5/10. Price was a big factor, and performance was a close second. Some notes that were mentioned (pineapple, cedar) were nowhere to be found. But you will smell wealthy and unique so that’s a win. I would recommend trying it before you buy. It’s more suitable for me, over 30s. Best for summer, spring, and office.
