Mail Call - Alexandria Fragrances

I picked up a 30 ml bottle of Judgment Call (Amouage Decision) with 4 decants (10 ml) of Burj Khalifa (Roja Amber Aoud), Haute Luxor (original creation), Nostalgia (MFK Oud Satin Mood), and Sichuan Tea X (Nishane Wulong Cha X). In addition, I received a complimentary sample of Loophole (Loumari's Porthole).

The verdict on Judgment is guilty on all charges of fraud and gross misrepresentation. Had I smelled this blindly, I don't think I could reasonably have expected that this was inspired by Decision. It has a heavy-handedness that I don't associate with Decision, and the blend of notes is all wrong.

Loophole was better; however, I only have a vague recollection of Porthole. This opens with bright citrus and juicy top notes; however, the middle becomes a fishy aquatic scent on my skin. Thankfully, that didn't last very long. The dry-down is pleasant. I will reserve judgment until I am able to re-test Porthole on my next trip to Perfumology.

Nostalgia is inspired by MFK Oud Satin Mood, but beyond the inspiration, there is a lack of depth. It fits into the genre, typically associated with rose-ouds, but lacks the refinement of the OG.

I suspect that Haute Luxor (original) started out as an attempt to duplicate Roja's Haute Luxe which is a Chypré wrapped in cashmere, with rose, jasmine, orris, oakmoss, leather, ambergris, benzoin, and vanilla notes. Unrealistic, yet bold to attempt to duplicate a $3,500 perfume. That said, it's worth the $33.25 that I paid for it.

Sichuan Tea X (dupe of Nishane Wulong Cha X) is a pleasant, bright, citrus, and tea fragrance. It's been a while since I smelled the OG, but I don't care. This is bright and invigorating and reminds me of Xerjoff Renaissance. The decant will likely be used up in the spring and summer of 2026.
