so, i finally decided to take advantage of living near the strip, and came to the Bellagio with my friend (potential girlfriend idk but cautiously hopeful), to observe a Christmas exhibit they had put up.
AND my eyes caught to a Guerlain shop! i’ve been really wanting to try their stuff, so after some pictures at the exhibit, i went in to go try it out.
the sales lady was way nice, and after some small talk, she had me sample the L'Art & La Matière collection.
Now i picked up some niche samples before, but they were more crowd pleasing entryway niche scents, like PDM Layton and Lafayette Street. I love Layton, but i wasn’t super blown away by Lafayette Street. Not bad but too airy and musky for the price. If i spend a lot of money on a scent, i want people to know i did.
Needless to say, i’m a big fan of Guerlain now!
Here’s an in depth review of the scents i tried out:
Angèlique Noire-
Minus the fact that it shares a similar name with my psychotic ex’s older sister, this scent is pretty good! Very rosy and floral, and while you can only guess the notes in it, i’m picking up some vanilla, jasmine, rose, and pink pepper.
Moschino Toy Boy kind of gave me a negative opinion on rose scents, but this is good. Just a bit too too florally for my taste, but way good.
6.5/10
Fève Gourmande-
Now THIS is edible smelling.
Boozy, chocolatey, spicy and smoky with a great rose note, this one definitely would pull compliments.
Exceptionally well blended but just a bit too sweet for my taste. Love it, but that’s my one quip.
7/10
Spiriteuse Double Vanille
Very sweet but not as gourmand as Fève.
Great vanilla and boozy notes, i actually like this a lot. Concentrated and intensely strong, and a great rum-esque note that compliments the vanilla very well.
Reminds me a lot of Vanilla Diorama from Dior, very sexy.

Cherry Oud-
probably my least favorite out of this line. Not bad by any means but not really my favorite.
the cherry note is a bit sharp, and reminds me a bit of bathroom hand soap. Also not enough oud, so that was a bit of a letdown :(
4/10
Tobacco Honey-
Now THIS is awesome. Photorealistic honey note in the opening spray, and that tobacco leaf really starts to shine through.
Springtime easter scent in a bottle, and very, very mature. Performance is pretty solid too.

Nèroli Outrenoir
Now if you’ve guys have known me long enough, you’ll know i’m a bigggg neroli lover, so i was excited to test this baby out.
opening notes are bright and citrusy with great bergamot and tangerine notes, and it’s tied BEAUTIFULLY with an herbal tea note that connects it to the neroli and orange blossom heart.
there’s also a super unique note of smoke in the heart, which doesn’t take away the brightness but adds a lot of depth to it.
huge fan of this one. if you married louis vuitton imagination and neroli portofino with a costa azzura acqua as that distant, weird uncle who invites himself to every family gathering, this is it!
santal pao rosa
IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE.
i’m a HUGE santal lover, and not only do they have a gorgeous sandalwood note in this, but they blend it with fig and myrrhe to form a bridge to a gorgeous oud scent.
opening is very similar to Creed Original Santal, but the fig and myrrh notes give it added smokiness and texture, with the subtle oud in the background.
literal masterpiece-
9/10 (i never give anything a 10 out of 10, sorry hehehe)
Oud Nude-
this one is my definite favorite in the line. it’s a masterfully done oud and rose scent, with subtly added fruitiness, spice, and vanilla.
if you like tom ford’s oud wood, this one is a definite recommendation.
opening notes are kind of similar, but the drydown is where the rose and raspberry really shine. the oud stays consistent throughout the entire performance, and it’s pretty good performance too!
she sprayed it on my skin, and it’s lasted me about 8 hours now.

and finally, the last one, Oud Khôl-
this one is very intense. it’s deep, dark, and smoky, while being deeply floral.
the oud is less sweet in this one, and there are some hints of rose and smoke in it, although i could be wrong, as i’m just eyeballing it (or noseballing?) idk.
this one is a bit too heavy for my taste, but performance is absolutely nuclear. sort of the ombré nomade of Guerlain.
great scent, just too dirty for me.
6/10
fantastic lineup. i think that if i can afford it eventually, ill replace oud wood from tom ford with oud nude, (sorry tommy, this one blows it out of the water. superior performance and scent.)
highly recommend anyone who can try it, you should try it.
and now for those of who you HAVE tried it, what are your favorites in this list?
