First Impressions: Bleu De Chanel L’Exclusif
I stopped by very briefly to pick up a Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif 5ml decant that my Macy’s rep generously offered to me. I don’t own any OG Bleu de Chanel fragrances, so my direct experience is a little limited. It feels rich and heavy, like a parfum, great for nighttime or special occasions in cooler weather. Not the most versatile for daily wear, but it’s got a bold vibe.
Right away, it hits with that crisp, polished Bleu de Chanel DNA. About 15 to 25 minutes in, that signature scent steps back, and I get a woody note that feels a little leathery to my nose, even though leather is not listed in the notes. I really enjoy that edge, it adds some additional depth and character. That leathery woody phase sticks around for over an hour, then it softens, and a sweeter, even woodier scent comes through. Still very smooth, but becomes and stays linear from this point on. It’s been on my skin for 8 hours now, and that woody BdC vibe is still there.
Typically when something dries down this woody I can’t wait to wash it off after 6 hours, but the BdC DNA definitely holds it for me. So far I’m enjoying this one, but am I Chanel brand name at full retail $275 a bottle enjoying it, not for a designer yet. This 5ml should last me a bit and I’d like to get through the full 5ml before I pass full judgement.
