Burberry Hero EDP (1/3)
After trying the EDT a few weeks back, I knew I had to give the EDP a shot as well. I was waiting for the weather to cool down a bit, and yesterday felt perfect, so here are my thoughts.
It opens a bit bright and green. The note breakdown mentions pine needles, but I’m not sure if that’s exactly what I’m getting. After the opening, it stays fairly linear with frankincense, benzoin, incense, and a triple cedar attack. I do wish the incense leaned a bit smokier, but the sweetness from the resins is spot-on.
Compared to the EDT, this one’s deeper, richer, and sweeter. I feel like the woods in the EDP are slightly more muted because the resins take over.
Performance-wise, it’s excellent. I got around 9 hours of strong wear before it turned into a skin scent for a few more hours, so overall about 12 to 14 hours, which is beast mode. The projection sits around a foot, so fairly moderate.
Personally, I prefer the EDT because the woods are more prominent and the fresher style suits the DNA better. The EDP is good, but the resins make it feel a bit generic and take away from the cedar’s character.
Overall, I’d rate it an 8.2/10. It’s a great scent that’s mass appealing and versatile for colder weather, but the EDT is the clear winner for me. You can find plenty of fragrances in this style that do it better, though it’s still worth having a small decant if you really love the Hero DNA. It would also be a great foundation for layering.
So what do you think of Hero EDP?
