Well today brothers I wanted to bring out another of my attars that is sadly discontinued. It’s a 30ml crystal container and dropper. This was produced in the late ‘80’s and discontinued well before 1995. Back before the house of Amouage ever produced an EDP. I purchased this in Oman in 1991ish.
As you can see, these last. One dropper to the wrist is all that’s needed for a normal day. If you are wanting to make a statement , then a swipe to each side of the neck will give you all the projection your office can handle. In actuality this has a very slight green hue to it when held up to the light with the dark amber color. “In 1983, His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said had a desire to bring back the arabian art of perfumery to Oman, and the Amouage perfume factory in Muscat was built. The first fragrance was created by master perfumer, Guy Robert.”
So let’s talk about the juice. This was made before all the crazy restrictions on certain natural notes started coming from the EU and USA.
As you can see this has a blend of different Oud. While at the initial opening there is a very very faint indole fecal smell, it’s so well blended it’s only barely noticed while the rose, amber and ambergris smooth everything out wonderfully. The rose isn’t bright like other attars of the house but subdued. The Cambodian style Oud gives it that fruity earthy dense layer to it adding a depth that just goes and goes. After around 2 hours the dense saltiness of the ambergris is kicking in more and the Oud is transforming into more of an incense woody base note.
This attar will last well over ten hours and projection is 2 meters easy. Sillage is a scent trail anyone can follow.
A true master class in parfum that is no longer made in this world. It’s just not possible to replicate natural fragrances like this with chemicals. No matter how hard you try. They will last longer than I will be alive. This day is a blessing to share this with you all and present the very things that pulled me into becoming a parfum addict way back when I was young and 19-20ish years old. Before I could even accurately describe what I was smelling.
Be well everyone on this fantastic day. Time to smell great while grilling steaks!!!
