So, the heat in NC is beyond hot for this season (not summer yet but in the low 90s). My day lilies are succumbing quickly. I've seen @Brittany Stanton tutorial on tulip cordage. My question is has anyone worked with day lily fronds? Yellow before totally browning, is pliable.

As a perfectionist… (who is also budget-conscious and a beginner) can someone give me a TedTalk on how to “practice” without feeling like I’m “wasting materials”? I hope you all know the feeling of “well, that didn’t turn out right — what do I do with this now?” It feels like throwing away money when I make something I’m not satisfied with. And how to display or gift something that is wonky or not quite right? On a fundamental level, I understand the value of keeping work that isn’t quite what I’d envisioned in order to look back on it and see how far I’ve come, but I still have that nag in my head who thinks it has to be “perfect or not at all”. How do you make basket handles from reed not a wooden carved handle? How do you wrap them in a decorative way? Most importantly, how do reed handles get attached after the basket is completed? Or, do you weave the handles in from the beginning using a very long reed and wrapping it up and over so it creates a handle and two spokes for you basket?
