Food Friday ~ Default Meal
Food Friday ~ Default Meal
Create one “default meal” for demanding days.
It should be:
  • simple enough to assemble when tired;
  • made from foods you tolerate and enjoy;
  • balanced enough to carry you for a while;
  • flexible when an ingredient is missing.
Write the meal and one backup version in your Healing Notebook. For example:
Default: Eggs, greens, toast, and fruit.
Backup: Yogurt, oats, berries, and nuts.
The goal is not nutritional perfection. It is reducing the chance that exhaustion makes nourishment inaccessible.
You do not need a brand-new healthy recipe every day. A familiar breakfast or dependable lunch can reduce decision fatigue and help your body trust that nourishment is coming.
Choose one meal that is easy, satisfying, and realistic for this season. Keep the ingredients available. Let simple become supportive.
We have 5-6 repeat meals for breakfast to give us variety:
  • Default:
Egg omelet with lots of veg and cheese (or wrap)
Home made beef or chicken soup
  • Back-up when mornings are busy:
Savory oats with nuts and seeds (made with salt and pepper in place of sugar)
Whole grain sourdough with hummus and avocado
Even easier:
Cottage Cheese with avocado and olives
Yogurt, oats, berries, and nuts. (we use a high protein greek yogurt with stevia)
  • Lunch is almost always a large salad with chicken, cheese, and a variety of colorful veg. (easy to make ahead for work - salad in a jar.)
