Performance Max or Video ads to start?

Hey all - just starting youtube ads for my biz, wanted to ask is it better to start with performance max campaigns or just focus on video ads first if budget is roughly $300 per day for a sales call campaign?

I'm new to Google ads (mostly done FB before) - from an outsider perspective it looks like pMax is meant to do everything for you under one roof versus individually doing video, search, display and discovery - is hat right or am I looking at this all wrong?
