💭 Reflection:
"Today, I did something that I thought I would never do. When Hospice phoned, I usually get Mum and we do it together on speakerphone. Mum was busy with Dad in the bathroom and when I checked that the coast was clear, I said to the nurse that I was going to be brutally honest on where I see things sitting at the moment. I'm so glad I did. The nurse arranged to come around in the afternoon to look at Dad, just to get eyes on him and see for herself how he was going. I did say that Dad was the sort of person that rated the pain as "not too bad" when he broke his hip and the medical personnel dropped him 3 times before getting him into hospital (bear in mind this all happened at a specialist hospital eye clinic). So the nurse understood what I was saying, saw Dad and chatted with us. His medication is being changed again - we're trying anti anxiety wafers as swallowing is difficult now. If that works, then we can address the pain but we're limited as she agrees with us, if we put a central line in, he'll just rip it out with all his fidgeting and scratching. It was a long night last night but we got through it. Today is a new day. Let's see what happens today. Happy Sunday everyone and to all the fathers out there - Happy Fathers' Day!"
