Sam Altman is Bullish on IRL Events
Last year in a podcast interview, Sam Altman was asked about what he thinks the future of jobs and experiences will look like This was his response: "There will be a premium on human, in-person, fantastic experiences" He could have said anything! Anything about automation, efficiency, research, problem solving, new technology, and so on But he chose to talk about in-person experiences What do you guys think? Do you agree with him?

You might be hearing this name a lot...
Offline Mode โ˜๏ธ It's the event we just wrapped up for Greg Isenberg, an entrepreneur and creator that helps people get started in business and software. There's a LOT to unpack from the event. The revenue model, the promotion strategy, the experience design. We'll be making a lot of content about this one. What stood out to me though, is a word we picked up from Greg and his operator Jordan. They said the primary reason they wanted to do an IRL event was for 1 simple outcome: Affinity โšก๏ธ (a natural liking, attraction, or feeling of kinship with someone or something, stemming from shared qualities, interests, or origins) They sought to build affinity with their audience. Gather audience members together in a house, chat about business and growth, and help them overcome obstacles. It was a quest to build goodwill and relationships. That's it. It wasn't about money. It wasn't about status. (those are cool, don't get me wrong). It was about people. Again, the deep-dives and analysis will be coming soon. The numbers, the metrics, the KPIs. But i just wanted to share that as a preface. Talk soon!

๐ŸŽข Universal Studios
Yesterday I went to Universal Studios in Florida. I haven't been for 10 years, and it was a lot of fun! Theme parks are a great way to see many experience design techniques come together, so think of Disneyland or Universal the next time you are creating an event! Here's 3 learnings you can use in your next event โฌ‡๏ธ - Design the "Pre-show" You know how in some rides, you go into an area where the story starts being told? You're no longer in a line... you've begun the experience ๐Ÿ’ก This is done to make whatever comes next part of the experience of the ride, preparing the audience to get maximum enjoyment and engagement from it โš™๏ธ Use this during your next event. This is exactly why we did the "pre-event" virtual call during the Skool IRLs. It can also be done by intentionally designing the arrival experience of the event (first 30-60 mins) to be welcoming, introductory, or memorable. (Think Skool IRL in Central Park) - Manage Expectations through Clear Communication This one is funny, but halfway through the line of a very popular ride, it started to rain lightly. A few minutes later, a voice came on the speaker and said "Hey everyone, it has started to rain. Therefore, if you ride this ride, you will get wet" ๐Ÿ˜น I was shocked that they would have to announce this, but by so doing it removes any opportunity to complain about it ๐Ÿ’ก This is done to clearly communicate with attendees so they know what is intentional, what is expected, and what to do next โš™๏ธ You may not have to tell your attendees "Water is wet" but you MAY need to remind them 100 times where to park, where to meet up, which exact spot to go to at what time, and what is included in the event or experience - "Surprise and Delight" This is an Experience Design principle based on using creative ways to surprise your audience and go above their expectations (speaking of expectations, above!) When me and my brother went on Velocicoaster we were both surprised and delighted ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿ’ก This is done by collecting data about your attendees so you know what WOULD surprise and/or delight them. You could guess, but you'll probably guess wrong. Collect data by having them register for events, take surveys, hopping on calls, texting, or any other way to get feedback.

๐Ÿค Why do people attend events?
We're hosting onboarding calls for our event in 2 weeks Talking to a lot of business owners and entrepreneurs Some doing 40k/mo, 80k/mo, some even 250k/mo+ All of them paid $5,000+ to attend a 2 day workshop event They work in many different fields, industries, niches They run big teams, lean teams, operate solo or as co-founders All of them are taking time out of their busy schedule to fly to Florida, grab a hotel room, and join us Why?? I've narrowed it down to two simple reasons 1๏ธโƒฃ Connection โž• 2๏ธโƒฃ Value It seems stupid simple, but it's true for pretty much every event we run People take time out of their busy lives to meet people others like them Similar stories, struggles, competencies, or radically different competencies that they can learn from These connections create value for attendees And of course, value is also created by event sessions, speakers, exercises, and experiences So the next time you are hosting an event and want people to show up... Design the event to make sure you are allowing for connections that mean something, and value that changes something (no fluff!)

105k in rev + 4.9/5 satisfaction score... full case study
What's up ya'll! Happy Friday - I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving :) As you know, we hosted an event in Dallas, Texas a few weeks ago for one of our clients This was the result: โœ… 50 attendees โœ… 4.97/5 satisfaction score โœ… $105k in direct revenue generated And what's crazy is: 1. This wasn't even supposed to be a revenue generating event 2. We were able to collect $105k in rev without doing a single pitch from stage...๐Ÿ˜ง For this weeks video, I did a full case study on our strategy for this event Enjoy :) Feel free to drop any questions down below
