Renewal
I’ve been a bit MIA from the group because I’ve been deep in restructuring at work. Somewhere along the way I ended up with a “promotion” (and I use that term loosely). 😂 It’s really more of a title change with the tiniest pay increase imaginable, plus the caveat that pay will now be frozen for the next three years. However… we’re moving from 37.5 to a 32-hour, four-day work week while keeping the same salary. So yeah Scotland wins on that one 🙌 I was really worried about a few members of my team, but I’m relieved to say I’ve been able to keep everyone. I was especially concerned about my admin, as a lot of her role is being absorbed by new systems. Thankfully, we managed to find her a home in another team, which is brilliant. I’ve never been so happy to “lose” my admin! She gets to keep her flexible, part-time hours, which I’m so pleased about, especially as she’s a single mum and that flexibility makes such a difference. We’ve been working on consolidation, cost savings, and restructuring for nearly a year now, so it’s a relief to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve closed several offices and gone through multiple budget reviews to limit redundancies. It’s been a long haul, but we’re nearly there. How has everyone been getting on? For many of you this is your Q1 and you’re feeling like you’re starting anew. For me, I’m into my Q4 and just pushing through until the end of March. Juggling budgets, people, projects, KPIs. I’ve just finalised our 3 year Workforce strategy which goes to the board Thursday. April will certainly be a fresh and new to launch the new structure and strategy. And one last thing to celebrate….. I was approved for my UK citizenship on Monday 🇬🇧🎉 Lots of changes, lots of new things happening! What’s the one word for you right now? For me it’s “renewal”.
Please help me welcome Amelia to the group! 👋
I met @Amelia Hodges at the NC Chamber Women Lead NC event, and I already know this community is exactly the kind of space that will welcome her, challenge her, and surround her with real support. Glad you’re here, Amielia — you’re in good company.

Welcome!
Vision Board Party — What to Expect
This isn’t a “cut out pictures and hope” session. It’s a working hour designed to bring clarity before creativity. Total time: 90 minutes Starts at 12:15 - plan for 1 1/2 hours Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85603373079?pwd=ALoMWQ9olaUeGfVXgDtCx0h6BWGHOa.1 First 60 minutes — Setting the vision (together)! We’ll walk through goal-setting using 7 areas of life, with guided reflection and conversation: - Career & contribution - Financial life - Health & energy - Relationships - Personal growth - Fun & quality of life - Physical environment I’ll share how to think about goals so they’re: - Clear instead of vague - Grounded instead of aspirational fluff - Aligned with who you are now — not who you think you “should” be You’ll do short exercises, think, write, and recalibrate. No rushing. No pressure to share yet. Last 30 minutes — Create & share You’ll build your vision board (physical or digital) and have the option to share what emerged — not for approval, but for visibility and momentum. Bring with you (ideas, not requirements) - Images, words, screenshots, or notes that pull you forward - A notebook or paper for ideas that don’t have pictures yet - Something to write with - Your chosen format (physical board, Canva, notes app — all welcome) - A quiet space and uninterrupted time - An open mind and honest answers That’s it. One important note This session works best if you show up as you are — not polished, not “figured out. "Clarity comes from engagement, not perfection. Active participants will be acknowledged afterward. Because momentum deserves to be seen. See you Friday.

I’ll try to make it but it’s 5-6 my time and we have our annual Christmas party to get to the ver an hour away! I’m going to try to mad dash home and get packed up as we always spend the night. Scottish parties should be considered a sport 😂
Quick Check-In: Is the Energy Management Series Hitting the Mark?
Hello everyone — I wanted to pause and check in. We’ve spent the last week digging into Energy Management — Leading Without Burning Out, and I haven’t seen much activity or discussion. That’s not a problem — but it is a signal for me to check whether I’m giving you what you need. This community is meant to serve you — your real challenges, your real growth, your real work. So, I’d love your honest feedback: - What’s been helpful so far? - What’s missing or unclear? - What would make it easier to participate? - You can reply here, send me a DM, or even drop a single sentence. Your input will help me shape what comes next so it actually delivers value. Thanks for sticking with this — and for being part of building something that’s still taking shape.

This past week has been quite hectic. Today I’m finally able to have some time to myself and journal and rest. I’ve been catching up on your recent posts so thank you for them!
Putting Pen to Paper: Finding What Fuels (and Drains) You
We’ve been talking about energy and values — now it’s time to see where yours really sit. This next step is simple but powerful. It’s not about fixing anything yet; it’s about seeing your current reality on paper. The Energy & Values Check-In Worksheet will walk you through three short parts: 1️⃣ Identifying the values that show up for you when burnout hits. 2️⃣ Mapping where those values sit across four levels of energy. 3️⃣ Reflecting on what you notice about where your focus — and your energy — are going. That’s all I’ll say here — because this one works best when you experience it, not read about it. Download the worksheet, take ten quiet minutes, and see what surfaces. When you’re done, go to Activity 4 and decide if you’d like to share what stood out for you under the “Lead Without Burnout” thread, with another member, or directly with me. This is where awareness starts turning into traction.

Ok buckle up — Mine have clustered around level 1 (safety and stability) and level 4 (leadership and contribution). This makes sense with my pending citizenship status and the current news and events and changes within the UK and US. It’s also makes sense because I give - a lot. I do enjoy it but it’s been a lot of requests lately. I’m prepping for a software conference next week where I was asked to deliver something. And dumb me said yes before asking what they wanted. (I assumed AI as that’s what I’ve been doing often.) They asked me to deliver on a totally different topic and one I didn’t have any ready material for. And I said I’d make it work. 🤦‍♀️ Yesterday I said yes to my Director to deliver a presentation for her area professional group. And I had an email yesterday about delivering again for my area professional group. I didn’t really think about that until I filled this out. Three “yeses” in a week!! Oh and also said I’d help edit a friend’s dissertation!!! I can’t even keep up with what I’ve said yes to. 😳 I do really love doing these things but I need to put up more boundaries in what I automatically say yes to. I could limit myself to one a month. Learning is also important to me and I’m on the train now heading to a conference (ends at 2) and I told my team I’d be in the office in the afternoon. Even my Director told me to not come in and to just go home but our office is only 2 stops away from where I’ll be and on the way home so I thought I’d just squeeze in a couple hours. I’m starting to see why I’m feeling like this! Boundaries I can put in place going forward is just “yes”-ing to only one big thing per month. The other which I know in my head but really hard to do is to limit the news. I feel the need to keep on top of both UK and US news and it’s too much. I could reduce social media and just read objectively factual news versus what might happen or the speculative things. (This is all linked to “helping” as I’m on immigration groups and they’re trying to significantly change UK pathways). It seems most of my issues are relating to the desire to help. Interesting! Hmmmm. Definitely more reflection is needed.
