Pain points
I find this idea of figuring out what keeps students up at night to be really interesting. I recently paid for a few courses about financial issues, and part of what drove me there was this very point - that stuff was keeping me up at night! I made a great investment both financially and in terms of being better rested, and feel a terrific sense of relief. Wish I'd done it sooner... I still have more work to do to order my finances better based on what I learned in those courses, but I've made enough progress so that I no longer have those late night and early morning waking nightmares where the world is just crashing onto me due to the fears about money. So clearly I need to find out what my prospective students worry about, what keeps them up with that same kind of fear and panic and dread. It's more evident to me today than yesterday that a lack of clarity regarding the Third Conditional is not disturbing their sleep; but I'd bet the house that feeling ashamed of fumbling in English in front of colleagues is. (Even if no student has ever told me that specifically.)

I find it very insightful to listen to them very carefully during our pre-lesson "small talk".

Keep on keeping on!
Let's Start Solidifying our Niches
Hey folks, Small steps can lead to enormous progress. Most teacherpreneurs get held up trying to identify their niche, so let's keep it simple with two questions. 1. Who do you want to help? (consider your interests and expertise) 2. What problem do you help this group of people solve? Feel free to share with the Community or DM me directly if you want feedback. If you can answer these questions then you can test it out and move forward with your messaging. Always be open to change, but commit to taking the first step. 📈

It seems like even though I know my niche, the more I think about it, the more I'm drilling down. This is quite a revelatory exercise and helps me to feel more confident about the development of my course.

This was an interesting video, Leo. I don't think I ever consciously realized there was a decoy involved in the product selection process. I'll take a look at Can Ariely's video next. (Sorry I haven't posted earlier but I was away on vacation in the eastern part of Europe.)
