🏋️ Training Tuesday: When Does the Negotiation Start?
Yesterday we talked about the negotiations we have with ourselves. Today let's zoom in on training. When does your negotiation usually start? - When the alarm goes off? - After work when you're drained? - When it's cold or dark? - When your schedule gets messy? For me, training isn't a negotiation anymore. It's Point 3 and 4 on my Foundation Protocol — the decision is already made. But it wasn't always that way. First, I had to identify when I was most likely to quit. Then I built around that moment — before it showed up. 👇 Your turn (one line is enough): "My training negotiation usually starts when ______." My negotiations start around 4/4:30 a.m. when my alarm goes off. That’s when I convince myself I’ll just go to the gym after work—despite the fact that both me and my inner negotiator know that’s a lie. I also argue that because I didn’t sleep well, I shouldn’t go, as if that extra hour of sleep is magically going to make up for the years of insomnia and short nights sleep.

🏠 Friday Family: Who Do You Grind For?
Most of the time we talk about habits, training, discipline. The what and the how. But we don't talk enough about the who. Who are you grinding for? Not in a cheesy "motivation" way. In a real way. The person who's counting on you to stay healthy. The kid who's watching how you show up. The partner who needs you present, not just productive. Yesterday was my wife Colleen's 50th birthday. First and foremost, I’m doing this for me. Being the best version of myself has been put on the back burner for too long. And secondly, for Austin, for the household that needs running all week while he’s gone, for the 16 paws that run throughout my house that literally need me every single day.
