This Week's Catch-Up + Q&A: Athlete Spotlight & Your Questions! 💥
Team! We're mixing it up this week for some extra fun and value 🔥 - First up (10–15 mins): An athlete jumps on to share their journey, highs/lows, and a bit of banter. If you'd like to be that athlete (whether you're crushing PBs, overcoming a setback, or just have a cracking story), DM me or drop a comment below – all welcome here and we will continue this weekly. - Then open Q&A: Fire away with ANY questions – training, nutrition, race strategy, mindset, gear, life balance, whatever's on your mind. Drop them in the comments now so we can prep and smash through them live. Perth athletes: I'll be in town Thursday 5th Feb – will lock in a few catch-ups over the weekend. Details coming coming this week Looking forward to tomorrow's call – let's make it a ripper. Who's stepping up for the spotlight? Questions ready? Drop 'em below! 👇

Would love to hear from someone who’s been a longer term Koa athlete - perhaps 5+ years. Maybe summarise a bit of the journey & the ups and downs, lessons learnt etc. Also I’d love to hear some perspectives on powermeters for running (like stryd). Are these a gimmick? Or is there some merrit from a coaching perspective….
WELCOME
Welcome to Greggo's Tri Chat! 🚀🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Hi everyone, and a huge welcome to the group! I'm Greg McDermott, your coach with Koa Sports, and I'm thrilled you've joined us here on Skool. This community is all about connecting our athletes—whether you're a beginner building your first tri, chasing age-group podiums, qualifying for Worlds, or simply loving the swim-bike-run lifestyle. It's a space to share training wins (and those tough sessions), ask questions, get feedback, discuss races, and support each other on the journey to better performance. A few quick things to get started: - INTRODUCE YOURSELF in the comments below or in the "New Members" thread—tell us your name, where you're based, your main goals for 2026, and what you're most excited (or nervous) about right now. Let's get to know each other! - Jump into discussions, post your training logs, race reports, or questions—your input drives this place! - I am piloting this as part of your coaching subscription over the next few months, so please share your feedback, ideas, and what you'd love to see here. We're building this together as a supportive tribe, and I can't wait to see the energy, breakthroughs, and friendships that come from it. You've got big goals ahead—let's smash them as a team. Drop a quick intro or wave hello below. Looking forward to chatting! Greggo Again, WELCOME to the team

Watch/Bike Computer Data
Hey all, happy Friday! I’m interested to know what data everyone runs on their main screen on their bike computer and/or running watch? And does it change from training to race day? Hope everyone has a good long weekend! Happy training! 😁

I’m in the ‘less is more’ camp! Anything to do with averages, time or distance is turned off. Bike screen: 10s avg Power, HR and gradient/incline %. Run Watch: min/km pace & HR. Generally I try to keep things the same between training and Raceday, however for marathons I’ll create one of Garmins Pace Pro programs. I find these super handy for pacing - especially if Greggo’s race plan has walk breaks pencilled in through the aid stations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KLcUKNivBY
First Call – YOU Set the Agenda!
Team – our very first weekly call this Wednesday is going to be an absolute ripper! 🚀 6pm AEST We’ll kick things off with a quick bit of housekeeping (nothing boring, promise), but the real focus is delivering massive value straight to YOU and your 2026 goals. I’ve got a few solid ideas to get us rolling, but here’s the deal: This group is 100% member-led. The agenda is yours to own – every single time. So let’s make this first one epic. Fire away in the comments below with: • Any burning questions (training, nutrition, race strategy, mindset, gear – whatever!) • Specific topics you’d love to dive into • Areas/challenges you’re facing right now that could help move the needle on your Ironman / 70.3 / endurance goals this year No question is too basic, too advanced, or too “out there”. Seriously – the “dumb” ones often spark the best discussions and help everyone level up. Drop them here so I can shape the call around what YOU actually need. The more input we get, the better the session will be for all of us. Who’s in? Let’s see those comments rolling – tag a mate if it helps get the ball moving! 💬👇

Given that it’s the optimistic goal setting time of year - I’d love to hear about yearly planning best practices for age groupers. I.e How many long course events in one year are too many? is it better to spread races out evenly or condense them into clusters? I’m curious about how much of the year should be set aside for maintenance & recovery.
