Eric Hoffer finalist
Is being an Eric Hoffer Award finalist worth anything? I was excited until I saw there were dozens, maybe hundreds of finalists! I won't know if I win an actual award for a few more weeks. Anyone else have experience with Eric Hoffer Awards?

Yes I think that's true for awards too...there'a whole range of awards from scams to legit. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I started early but not early enough! I felt I was getting old and needed to get on it!

@Anish Koirala Thanks Anish! I'm following a new productivity trend where you start your creative work first thing in the morning...before you even get dressed! First things first!
What Should Go in the Front of Your Book?
Most authors don’t lose readers in Chapter 3. If they even managed to sell someone on buying their book, they often lose them before Chapter 1 even starts. I just recorded a breakdown of something almost no one talks about when it comes to writing a nonfiction book: the front matter of the book! The title page, copyright page, dedication, table of contents, introduction… all the stuff people either copy from other books or throw in because they think they’re supposed to. Think about each page strategically. Those pages are doing more work than anything else in your book. They’re where a reader decides: - “I’m in”or - “This feels like every other book I’ve seen” If someone opened your book and only read the first 10 pages… would they be hooked or gone? Watch the video and then come back here and tell me one thing you’re changing 👇

I rewrote my introduction umpteen times. I'm pretty happy with it.
My Latest Book Cover
Hello all, I need your help with this cover design and if you could answer these 3 questions about it, that would be fabulous. - “What kind of book do you think this is?” - “What stands out first?” - “Would you pick this up—and why or why not?”

It looks like fun and folksy and with some good tips. I think there is too much going on and is your subtitle written in stone yet?

@Kevin Hall I don't think the subtitle needs to contain the entire book's contents - it just may be too much to swollow on a cover but I'm no expert. What do the book launcher people say? Or put it in and AI and see what it says. Or just trust your instincts and the heck with the rest of us!
Museum Library Donations
I came up with something that I haven't seen elsewhere. My main goal is legacy and through a series of lucky happenings (and hard work) my book was accepted for donation in the following libraries: University of California at Berkeley Doe Library - my alma mater Getty Center Research Library Victoria & Albert Museum Library (National Art Library) London National Portrait Gallery Library in London And I've applied to several other museum libraries to donate my book. Crazy huh?

I tried gift shops but only got one. But I'm sorely behind in alumni promotion. Thanks for the gentle reminder and your success.
