@Steven Oldner There is, indeed. When I was looking into getting started with Kettlebells, Udemy was one of the first places I looked; it was there i discovered Taco's courses. His Kettlebell Training Premium course was the first one I got.

Weight Loss Challenge - Day 1
Start Point β€” 10th Nov 2026 / Weight: 121kg Really p****d off about that as I've put on 2 kg in the last few months and seeing as I train/do something most days (and do eat pretty healthy)...that came as quite a shock. I know there are NSV's (non-scale victories), and I do feel them (clothing mainly), but I seriously need to get my weight down. Not least because of my high blood pressure, but also because I'm in the IKO super-heavyweight category (>102 kg), and by the time I compete in the February 2026 snatch competition, which I've already signed up for, my goal is to be in the heavyweight category (93 - 102 kg). I'll be 61 next month so my eyes are on 12 kg snatches in the 'Legends' category. My main weakness is I like my beer. Lots of it. And I've already committed to no beer until Christmas. Anyhoo, we are where we are and there's no-one else to blame except me, so... onwards and upwards. This morning, like most of my weekdays, started at 0515, and if it's not raining, I usually go outside and do 'something'. (FYI: years ago, when I worked on rigs, I fell headfirst through a hole in the deck onto a steel deck 10' below and compressed my spine (plus other injuries), and it sure lets me know when it really doesn't want to play.) So, this morning, I did: - 10 minutes with a 17 mm (840 gram) flow rope: race & chase, matador, and dragon rolls -- the rope flow REALLY helps loosen the shoulders and spine. Soooo good! - 2 x 5 minutes steel club flows involving hip hinge to rack, pullover, front press, front swipe, back swipe and then repeat--(50 bpm cadence with 2 x 2 kg clubs). 2 minutes rest between sets. - 5 x 20 2H Swings with a 24 kg kettlebell. - 2 x goblet squats with a 24 kg kettlebell (my lower back told me it didn't want to do anymore. :D) This evening, I plan on doing a snatch session. Will wait to see how the day pans out to see if that's still on. Thanks for reading. πŸ˜„
Weight Loss Challenge - Day 1

Day 15 - 24th November ==================== Not a great weekend and ate and drank stuff I know I shouldn't have. Today, back on the snatch training. Did over 400 snatches (10 kg) all told working on a technique that will hopefully work for me. My drop from the overhead fixation: leading with the elbow, reconnecting with the body, and the grip transition aren't quite there yet, but my hand's aren't too sore so, gravity aside, it must be moving in the right direction. :D

Weight Loss Challenge Update
I finally got to the gym today! We had a routine in Australia, gym EVERY day, focused on strength. For the past 3 months or more, our focus has been purely on strength. I beat my Strict Press PB and got the 36kg up, with the leg press, I got 300kg for 6 reps, and still had more in the tank, also a PB. But I suffered severely when it came to feeling like I could handle anything. In fact, in the workshop I ran a couple of days ago, I nearly passed out, never got that close to passing out. I feel weak because of it, as I usually can handle the heat, I can handle being uncomfortable, no problems with cardio. Anyway, I haven't done a darn thing other than work since I started. I started at 89.1; my belly is bigger now than when we started. But I lost 4.5 kilos! And that's with shoes on and not in the morning. Today, we finally found a good gym, got most of the other things done that we had to do when we arrived. So, now, I am focused on just increasing my cardio. I would love to keep up one part of the strength training, which is the strict press, but they do not have kettlebells over 20kg. For the next 2 weeks, I will stick to a simple routine of hang clean, strict press, and squat 10 reps. Rest as required. other side, then decrease the rest period as I progress. When I did my regular workouts, things like XERXES, I didn't think much of it, but now those workouts scare me. I NEED to get back to where that was the norm. I hope everyone else is making progress. Oh, and off alcohol. Still sticking to OMAD, which is the regular thing.

I've lost 1.5kg since the start--that's carnivore OMAD and, with exercise, according to the app, I'm only consuming about 1,000 calories a day--plus I did a 96-hour water and black coffee fast last week (Tues-Friday). In all honesty, I was hoping for double that so not really impressed. That might've contributed to my overall crap weekend, where I ate garbage, drank too much Saturday night, had a stinker of a hangover yesterday, but am back on it today with over 400 snatch reps (not all in one go) practising my technique.
Goblet Squat, 8R Max 16 kg
I thought I'm going to find my 1R Max easily, but it's much more than I expected. Today I did six sets of Goblet Squat, kb 8-16kg. The last one was very tough. Next I will have to change double rack squats, but I'm gonna do these couple of times.

@Steven Oldner I know, it's a kicker when that happens. (These things are sent to try us, I'm sure.)
