If you click in the area where it says "SK - Skool Community", and the up/down arrows, you'll get a drop-down list, including the "Discover Communities" option.
What is Your Free > Paid Skool Group Conversion? 📊
Last night on the Skool Games Zoom we spoke about conversion rates from Free > Paid Skool groups. Alex shared Hamza's % (which is the largest sample size) but I'd love to hear from anyone else who is willing to share their conversion % rate (Free members > Paid member upgrade). Do you have any data you can share with us? (I am also available for private DM's if you don't want to share here) @Sean Mize I believe you may have had some data from somewhere?

My bias is that you have to be clear on your business model and client path first, before deciding whether a free group is appropriate. The current popular and effective general model is "free or low priced" offer and high-priced back-end offer for those that want it. But there are topics where I think "free" is a mistake. YMMV.
Course Access Feature Query
I keep thinking about this and forgetting to post it so doing now before I forget again! I know we can have 3 setting for courses (all members, some members, or level members) but I had a scenario where I wasn't sure on what would happen 👇 Let's say I have a "friend" 🤪 who is going to be opening a free Skool group and wants to gift the first members something insanely generous so will use the "all members" option... But after this first group of members join my friend wants to change it to a "level" or "only some" setting but allow those who have it to keep access.... Would the people who had been given the free access before still have access? Or would they lose it? Asking for a friend 😜

When I checked this, once granted access to a course (through the free to all) it would stay in that status for those members. However, anyone new would not have access unless they reached the requisite level, or you manually added them to that course. So the change is typically not retroactive to existing members. I have to double-check this, but believe it to be correct. @Sid Sahasrabuddhe: is the correct?

If it does turn out that everyone loses access when you switch, it is a simple (totally under your control) to manually grant them access, person by person. I’ll test this over the weekend.
Community is a j-curve business
Here’s what I’ve learned in the 3 months I’ve been on Skool. Maybe if you’re just starting out this will help you avoid the same mistakes. Slow growth > fast growth I grew my group to 50 people in around 90 days but they weren’t the right people. Most people weren’t even filmmakers and they came from Skool. I had to kick 40 of the video and start over with only the active members who are dedicated. Be extremely picky which who you let in. Number of members doesn’t really matter if they’re not actually using the group. The community is value when it’s tight-knit and focused. For example filmmakers who make cinematic videos on YouTube and want to monetize their passion without trading time for money. Wait to monetize (j-curve) When you start your group you’re not making money. It’s a loss because you’re paying $99/month and getting nothing in return. But I would argue that you should wait to make it paid until you’re 100% sure that you’re providing an excess of value to your members + your members are verifying this with organic testimonials in the group. Plus when you think in this mindset of “I need to make money from this because I’m paying for Skool” everything gets worse. Now you’re in a position of scarcity and urgency. When I was thinking like this my content got worse and I started to focus on money instead of the thing I actually want to focus on which is filmmaking. I want to be an amazing filmmaker. That’s the main thing. By posting my best work I will naturally bring in traffic to my community. It’s a slow process and that’s okay. There’s no rush. I’ll say it again. There’s no rush whatsoever. Enjoy the process of building and don’t stress. It’s supposed to be fun but we make it hard on ourselves. What people buy and what they need are two different things unfortunately. I want to sell “master your craft” but people only really buy from the eternal markets of health, wealth, and relationships. So by adding in the monetization piece it makes your offer more appealing. What people really need to do is focus on mastery because that leads to monetization. But you have to “sell” the outcome not the process. At least that’s what I’ve learned.

Thanks for this reminder. Wise counsel, Josh. Slow is better than fast growth, even when financially painful.
Best 3rd Party Affiliate programs for coaches? (must work with PayFunnels)
I use PayFunnels now to collect payment for my Skool group because it's easier to mess with and change up. But I need a way to track people who pay and join through affiliate links. 1. What affiliate link services/websites do you use? 2. How do you recommend to run affiliates to my Skool membership offers?

Both PayFunnels and LeadDyno can be **connected through Zapier. I've never used either (but I can pretty accurately guess at their functions); others have suggested LeadDyno; I use ThriveCart for odd payment processing. .... Setting up your affiliates does involve more than you may be thinking about (think twins are more than just an engine on each wing - Ha!). You'll want (or not) to have a solid joint venture / affiliate agreement signed by both you and your affiliate partner, spelling out the downsides and nasty things that can and will happen, and how they'll be resolved. ... ** "Connected" is limited to what those systems allow you to do through Zapier.
