Expanding on drill tutorial...
Finally got around to finishing the project-after-the-tutorial, plus some extra work. Feedback welcome, as I prepare to put this on my own site in a bit. Learned some hard lessons about how far I should take things like micro-bevels in Plasticity, as no matter what I did the exported mesh inevitably had some issues especially when UVing. But there is only a little rebuilt geo here; most of it is plasticity exported polygon-soup.

@Kyle D thanks a lot. Yeah the neutral renders are to actually show what’s going on better. I always enjoy making a photo version though. And definitely follow that advice, as I will in future. Though I may also bevel in blender, or use bevel modifiers, instead. Depending on how far it is from view. I was an absolute genius and even bevelled the edges of the "read the manual" inset. lol

@Pierre Gagné 🙏 thanks!
XNurbs, Plasticity Studio
For those who don't know, XNurbs is included in Plasticity Studio version going forward. Are most of you using Indie version or Studio version? I think I will upgrade to Studio version from my current Indie version. I have 11+ months left. For people that want to upgrade their license from indie to studio, you can contact Plasticity and pay the difference between Indie and studio version.

So I'm a little confused on the details. Is xNurbs only on Studio because it's still in beta, or is it a feature they'll lock only to Studio licenses permanently as a carrot to get more $$? Based on the release schedule it seems one would have to pay $300 every 1.5-2 years. Not the most expensive "subscription" to keep up to date but not quite the 1-off payment it looks like on the surface.

@Thomas Schulz I said it's not the most expensive. But it is a subscription by other means, which is irksome and less than transparent on the face of it. At least Adobe uses the word, though in exchange they do get pirated to all heck. I also use Plasticity as a hobby, as in my corner of the 3D industry all the studios insist on using Maya for absolutely everything, which I also hate. I don't really have an issue if it's a beta feature that people who pay get access to early, but price-gating features in perpetuity would be a bit of a nasty move I think. Not entirely unreasonable, but against the perception they were putting out when they released I think.
Gameboy Color Final Model
Hi all, I can finally say I have finished the Gameboy Color model in all its glory. Modelled 100% in Plasticity. It isn't 100% accurate. Even though I used references I could never get fully orthographic shots so had to find a bunch and take shots of my own on my desk. I have tried however to replicate every detail I could find which will hopefully show in the final renders/animation. I don't yet have a portfolio account but I soon will. This is where I'm first sharing it because I think Nikita as a teacher deserves it. All renders are from Plasticity Bridge to Blender with HDRi and Cycles. I used a Bevel shader to add little fillets on sharp creases where needed. Next comes unwrapping, texturing, final shots and hopefully an animation (or that is the plan) Please enjoy :)

@Kyle D If it helps any I used Substance to texture my drill, which was mostly un-retopologised geo export from Plasticity, UV'd. Did the job pretty well despite the high-ish poly count and 5 UDIMs. I did a bake highpoly-to-highpoly and it handled it a lot better than Marmoset, which made me a little sad (as I quite like Marmoset for this sort of thing).
Tire modeling job offer!
We are a small German Advertising Agency and we are looking for someone who can do photorealistic Tire Modeling. What we provide: Photos from various perspectives. *.dwg-files from the Tire cross section, the tire tread and the sidewall, even the Normal Map from the Text which should be on the sidewall. And a sample from a rendered tire to see what the client is expecting. If the first tire is approved 29 more will come. I will prepare the sidewall file for you, because nor all text must be on the sidewall What we want to get: Rendered images in HighRes for at least 50 cm, so 1:1 of the tire as a *.png and if possible the blender file (The client asked for it). If not, I got to talk to him… It would be great to get a portfolio link, just to see some work you’ve done And a cost-estimate Timing: Sporty Cheers, Thomas

I don't suppose you'd mind sharing a similar or example image of what you need (perhaps from an unrelated project or something online)? I'd be curious to see what this entails, at the very least.
Plasticity 1.4 out now!
Some improvements in the measurement system and updated tangent functions (which I am most excited about). Very looking forward to the next big release 2.0.
