Plates
Pottery friends how in the heck do you get plates off plates off bats without wiring thru. I am about to just start hand building them.

@Suza Roswandowicz wow Suza. That’s a lot of plates. I have just hand built my first round dinner plate. All my previous plates were 6 sided plates, ( example below) made with GR pottery forms. I really like the round ones so hoping my first one turns out. Do you have any tips?

@Suza Roswandowicz that would be great. I appreciate that.
Thank you for everything!!!
@Suza Roswandowicz I just made time to watch your video from yesterday and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made me laugh, and you made me cry. And the pottery was great too! You said what I've been trying to articulate ever since I joined this wonderful pottery community. People from all walks of life, all political leanings, and all around the world can come together and share unabashedly their love of ceramic arts and making art. No holds barred, sending the love right back to you!

My mug of the day. A bit larger than I normally make but is great for the frosty mornings that we are now waking up to. Louisiana Bayou bottom 1/3, Spanish Moss middle 1/3 and Ginger top 1/3. 2 coats of River Birch over all with soft white on the inside.

🌿❄️ River Birch or Winter Wood? Choose Your Side!
Okay potters, let’s settle this once and for all! 😄 You can keep all your other favorite glazes — but when it comes to these two classics, you have to pick one: River Birch 🌿 or Winter Wood ❄️ No “both” and no “neither” — just pure, honest glaze preference! So… if you had to cast your vote, which one wins a permanent spot on your glaze shelf? 👀🎨 👉 Team River Birch or Team Winterwood?

@Mystie Richards thank you Mystie. I would love to mix my own glazes and if costs keep going up may have to try my hand at it. It is a bit scary.

@Mystie Richards I’ll have to give it a try at some point. I may need a bit of guidance along the way. Would you be ok to answer some questions if I run into issues?
A little scared
I'm usually a pretty private person. However, I feel like I'm among friends here, and among people who can understand my trepidation. You see, I'm about to have ACDF surgery. For the last couple of months I've been having pain, tingling and cramping in my hands and arms. Turns out I've got a couple of discs in my neck pressing on the spinal cord. So they are going to operate on the 16th. I've pretty much stopped doing pottery for the last couple of months because of this, and will not be able to lift or bend for a couple months after. I'm told that this surgery is over 90% effective permanently, but there's always some risk, so I'm a bit nervous. Anyway, I kind of wanted just to vent to someone other than those who live with me every day, and to people who understand what it would be like to not be able to make mud into art. I'm not looking for sympathy, just some encouragement to help me feel just a little braver about what lies ahead. Thanks to all of you for understanding!

Pat, our thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. I think the ladies comments above pretty much say it all. We are here to support you in any way we can. I think I speak for all of us when I say that you can consider us your pottery family. We are here for you wherever you need to share. I too am a grandmother. 6 of my 7 grandchildren are on the other side of the country and my husband is a long haul truck driver who is only home for about 9 days a month so we don’t often get the chance to fly out to see them. Thank goodness for FB messenger. It allows me to keep up with their activities and see their beautiful faces when I can’t be there. Maybe that could bring you some comfort at a time when you are unable to see your grandchildren in person. You will be in our thoughts on your surgery day. I hope you will be able to feel the strength of our support and will be a little less afraid.
