UK Paternity Leave is ONE OF THE WORST
The UK has one of the worst paternity leave packages in Europe. The numbers speak for themselves. Spain gives dads 17 weeks at 100% pay. Norway gives 15 weeks at 100%. Iceland gives between 20 and 26 weeks. And Denmark gives 13 weeks. The UK gives 2 weeks at £187.18 per week or 90% of pay (whichever is lower). That is it. What’s your thoughts on this? I think it’s disgusting to be honest. Punishment essentially for what should be one of the happiest times in a parent’s life. why should there be the financial worry over your head when all you want to do is cherish those moments with your child. People work hard their entire lives, pay into the system (way too much in my opinion) wouldn’t hurt to be looked after in times like this. A friend of mine who works in recruitment in Sydney has a newborn. His wife was given 12 months leave, full pay. As the father when she returned to work, he was then given 6 months leave full pay. Allows parents to have that time to bond with their child, not be rushed back to work.
Making StrongDads Hubs MORE ACCESSIBLE
Brothers, By the end of Summer, I dream of having 3 fully established StrongDads Hubs in Caerphilly, Merthyr, and Cardiff, and hopefully some across the pond led by our American and Canadian brothers in the group. But for now, we are starting with StrongDads Caerphilly. Attendance numbers vary greatly week-to-week, so I want to ensure I am making the Penallta Hub (Caerphilly) as accessible as possible. I think one of the things that impact attendance the most are out early starts, currently 0600hrs on a Saturday. What if we were to change the day and time? This is open to all Dads here, nit just those i the hub. What time would you prefer a meet of Dads to workout and connect? Put all your ideas in the comments. Could be Saturday 3pm, Sunday 10am, whatever... Or if it's something else we need to do to make them better, just shout. The foundations we lay with StrongDads Penallta will guide all future Hubs to come. Please help me to ensure our hubs are as impactful as possible! For the benefit of the group, if it was a case doing a class in Caerphilly, then Cardiff the following week I’d be happy to go with it to save the same members doing the travelling every week.

Mission Monday: What is your target this week?
Discipline over motivation, gents. A successful week does not happen by accident — it is planned. Drop your primary mission for this week in the comments. Keep it simple, specific, and honest. No need to impress anyone here. Physical Target: (e.g., 3 training sessions, 10,000 steps daily, no alcohol this week) Family Target: (e.g., one-on-one time with my son, phone away at dinner every night) Mental Health Target: (e.g., 10 minutes of morning breathing, journalling before bed) Post it below and check back in on Friday to report how you got on. The men who write it down are the men who get it done.

Taking a trip to Poland this week with the family so will improvise. Strength, looking to get 3 gym sessions in, hoping they’ve got some facilities at the hotel. 2 pool sessions for sure. Just enjoying some quality time with the family, away from the hustle and bustle.
Have a been taking a ‘super serum’?
So… We’re currently in Disneyland and yesterday had a day in the new Adventureworld which included Avengers Campus. Walking through Avengers Campus and walking towards me is Capt America (a probably-23 year old man dressed up)… Out of respect I nod and say ‘Cap’ He replies (not sure if respectfully or not), ‘Son’… He turns. The stops, turns back. He looks me up and down and assesses my arms in my StrongDads Stealth tee, then says, ‘Have you taken super serum?’ I’ll take that as a win. For Capt America to comment on my muscle in front of my son is definitely a StrongDad moment…
