Plein Air Painting - Painting Trees in my Local Area
Hey Artists Yesterday's plein air painting. It's so nice to just go out into my local area and paint these beautiful countryside scenes, especially trees. One of the things I'm trying to do now is go outdoors painting more regularly. I'm trying to see if I can get out once a week and just capture my local area on canvas, especially these countryside scenes, farmland, rolling green hills. I want to go out painting at least once a week to improve my plein air painting skills. The other cool thing is seeing the changing seasons here as it is now autumn in far north New Zealand where I live. I painted this artwork on an 8” by 10” linen panel in oils. Is anyone here in the group going outdoors to paint en plein air? Happy painting Sam P.S. If you'd like to learn how to paint trees like this so that you can just paint them outdoors or just improve your tree painting skills, then right now we have a tree painting course at my art school which has just started. You can catch up. Click the link to join. https://www.skool.com/samuel-earp-online-art-school/about

We had one day here in Ontario, Canada to get out and try it for the first time this year on March 5th. Rusty to say the least!
Scam or not?

Winter Landscapes Painting Course Starts in 1 Hour ❄️
Hey Artists We're kicking off the winter landscapes course in one hour at Sam's Art School, and I'm really excited about this one. There is also still time to get a 7-day free trial. It's a simple landscape from Queenstown, New Zealand, but I think it's going to make an excellent painting, and we can use a bit of artistic license as well. So we're working on this beautiful snow scene with its crisp winter light, and an atmospheric sky that makes winter landscapes so compelling. What to expect: - We're jumping straight into painting - I'll walk you through my design process and composition choices - You'll see my painting framework in action on a winter scene I've also uploaded a short video explaining my design process for this painting, so you can watch that beforehand if you want to come prepared. I'll dig deeper into the design process during the live class. The replay will be posted after the class, so don't stress if you can't make it live. Join Sam's Art School here: https://www.skool.com/samuel-earp-online-art-school/about See you on the easel! Sam

How to Paint an Autumn Scene With Trees, & a Cottage
Hey Artists I've just uploaded a new YouTube video that I think you'll enjoy, especially if you love autumn scenes. In this video, I'm painting a cozy cottage nestled among glowing autumn trees, with mountains shrouded in cloud in the background. It's one of those scenes that feels warm and peaceful. In the video, I walk you through: - How I arranged the composition to guide the eye to your focal point naturally, in this case, the cottage becomes the star of the scene. - Building depth with atmospheric perspective, so your mountains recede beautifully into the distance. - Creating those glowing autumn trees with warm oranges and yellows, that frame the cottage without overwhelming it. - Working with soft light to create that atmospheric quality that makes autumn landscapes so magical. Watch the video below: Whether you're painting in oils or acrylics, these principles will help you create depth and atmosphere in your own autumn scenes. Happy painting Sam

Lovely peppers. Add some reflective color of each pepper to the tabletop since your surface is white.
