Winging it = Authentic?
A couple of months ago, I co-hosted a workshop called, "The Presentation Secrets You Don’t Know You’re Missing.” During the Q&A, someone asked about winging her talks because she had been told it was more authentic. Let’s bust this myth wide-open! Myth - “If I prepare, I’ll sound scripted.” Truth- Nope! When we wing it, 99.9999999% of the time (okay I have no scientific data to back up that stat) we sound anything but authentic because we’re stumbling around, repeating things, missing points, using no real logical flow. And how does this come across to an audience that is having to work harder to keep up with the message you are trying to convey? Where is the confidence in and connection to the speaker who is rambling? Preparing in the right way, even if someone drops a last minute talk on you, makes all the difference for your audience! Rather than shutting your authenticity down, your authenticity has a chance to ring out! This is exactly one of the skill sets we work on in my Skool commmnity! Come learn more about who the Public Speaker’s Growth Hub helps! It just might be the next community you need to join!

@Daniel Knight “the more canned it is, the less canned it sounds” never heard that before, but I like it. Not verbatim regurgitation, but knowing your stories and how they support your concepts.

@Julie Nelson I've reactivated some aspects of self that have been dormant for decades.
Who do you think you are to...?
Break the habit of your conditioned responses and become the person you know you're meant to be. Who Do You Think You Are?! You're the star of your own show.

@Robin Swanson thanks 💗
Are you waiting for the right time to join in???
Not to point fingers, but there are a number of you who are out there waiting for the "right time" to post something here. Maybe you're not sure what to say. Maybe you don't feel like your community is ready to promote yet. Or maybe you just got distracted by all the other amazing groups on Skool... 😉 Whatever the reason, one of the biggest mistakes I see from community owners is not getting out there and making themselves known. Here are the two things I hope you are not doing in the Classifieds if you are trying to build your community: 1. Posting once or twice and then never again because you didn't get anyone to join your community. It takes time and consistency to get noticed and for people to remember you. You need to be posting daily. Do you know how many times I've wanted to refer someone to someone but I can't remember their name and then there's nothing in the community to remind me who they are? 2. Sitting back and not saying anything - just reading or not visiting at all because you are not ready yet. The time to start engaging is NOT when you are ready to launch your community - it is way before that. If you are not ready to post yet, start commenting on others posts. Get your name and photo recognized, build relationships, make connections so that when you are ready to launch, you are not starting from zero and people will recognize you. So, take this as the (loving) kick in the pants to start engaging in whatever manner works for you!
