I need your opinion again
Hello gentleman. I appreciate all of your feedback on the jacket I’ve posted yesterday. Quick reminder- I got a vintage Pal Zileri jacket, Sized 42/52R. I am about 6 feet tall. Although the measurements seemed accurate, you all generally agree that it is too long and too wide in the shoulders. After doing some research, I’ve found this picture from the brand’s campaign from 1992. I can’t tell what year the jacket is from, but I can tell that the fit on their models doesn’t look far off from how it looks on me. Could it be that it is intentionally made to be bigger in order to present a certain style? Does that change the way you look at the jacket? I’d love to hear your opinion.

@Geoff Saunders I love how you’ve described 90s Wall Street look in two sentences. Thank you. I am wondering if that can still be pulled off nowadays.

@Morgan John I am clearly not an expert, but I do think it looks pretty good in this regard
Does this look alright?
Hello gentlemen. Today I’ve received this vintage Pal Zileri 3-roll-2 blazer in navy. Although the measurements seemed perfect upon ordering, it seems to be running quite large. I am still trying to figure out what it is that I got wrong. In the meantime, I’d appreciate if you guys would be so kind to let me hear your honest feedback. Sizing is 42/52R I am just about 6 feet tall. Over 6 feet wearing shoes. Appreciate you all.

@Matthew Murdock Id wear a belt every time I leave the house. I put the outfit on for the sole purpose off trying the jacket. The length of them is good, I constantly get compliments on them. I am also not sure if the jacket can really be altered. After doing some research I think that the oversized feet could be intentional.
Gap between the lapel and the top button
Hey everyone, I’ve been looking at a couple of blazers recently, and I noticed something I don’t fully understand. On a 2-button jacket, the lapel doesn’t always lie completely flush with the button stance -sometimes there’s a visible gap where the lapel sort of floats before it rolls into the top button. It’s a little hard to explain. I encourage you to look at the photo below, of a two button jacket from Ralph Lauren that is a perfect example. This one is women’s, but I’ve seen it on a few jackets in the second hand market that are clearly men’s. Could anyone tell me if it means anything about the jacket quality/construction, or simply a an aesthetic choice?

@Brian McGuire Thank you for the detailed answer. It is much appreciated. However, the jacket I am referring to is not a 3 button, but only 2 button. There isn’t an extra button that’s hidden. Here is another photo of a different jacket. I have yet to figure out whether it’s intentional or some sort of a defect.

@Brian McGuire Sir, you have been immensely helpful. Thanks a lot. Hope you have a great week, and Shana Tova.
Can A Suit Made Of A Casual Fabric Be Worn As Separates? (Specific Example)
It’s fairly well known that you never wear you worsted wool business suit as separates. My question is about different suits, made of linen, tweed, or other fabrics that are considered more casual (although of course it can vary based on fit). I’ve seen these two pieces that make the same linen suits and I like them. Since I don’t wear suits (much), I’d be willing to know if they can be worn as separates. wear the trousers with an off white linen shirt and no jacket for example. Would that look good- or would it look like I am missing the jacket?

@Alex Kilpatrick Thank you for the response. I have always referred to it as sort of a guideline, as opposed to a rule. Just like you said. I know it comes from the possibility of looking “off” when wearing the suit as separates. It’s made me wonder what is it exactly that causes it.
Real pants
Gentlemen, I’ve got something interesting to share—probably nothing new to you fine gentleman. You know, most of us guys have been wearing and buying the wrong pants for a while now. Men’s pants should sit right at our natural waistline, which is usually around the belly button or just an inch below it. I’d love to hear your advice on which jeans and pants are out there that fit at the natural waistline without cracking the bank. This was actually the subject that sent me down this path, to this group Crack kills, time for a change!

I am young, and like a higher waisted, fuller cut a lot better. It drapes better, looks more stylish, it is more comfortable, and is overall more flattering for my shape. All subjective.
