I love smart people. I also see smart people try to figure out everything in their head. Look... You can not learn to ride a bike THINKING about it and IMAGINING riding a bike. I don't care how smart you are. I don't care how good your imagination is either. You can be Einstein mixed with Picasso. You will not learn to balance and ride the bike trying to imagine every possible scenario. 👉Investing and business is NOT school. 👉👉👉You don't get paid for getting the right fucking answers! 👉You get paid for producing a RESULT (and then if it's not the result you want, you adjust and take another action.) You will grip the handlebars nervously... And you will be wobbly AF. You may even fall down a time or two... But everyone learns to balance if they PUT THEIR ASS ON THE SEAT AND GO! Ronin style investing is the same. Most of our "struggle" is in our head. "What percentage/amount should I offer for X, Y, or Z?" There is NO RIGHT ANSWER...especially as a HYPOTHETICAL drama we are playing in our HEAD! Last week, I made a lowball offer of $1550 for someone's newsletter. (I offered about 15% of what I thought I could go out and buy the leads for. How did I come up with that? I pulled it out of my rectum mostly, but I know it doesn't MATTER. I'm trying to get the negotiation going.) They came back and said that seemed awfully low. My response: 👇👇👇 "I understand. I'm not trying to get you mad at me. I'm married and can make my wife mad at me anytime:-) I'm just trying to work within my budget. Instead of me offending you further... What's the lowest price you'd accept without being mad at me? Thank you, Travis" ☝️☝️☝️ Their response? They complimented my humor... And said they'd do the deal for $4,000. BOOM! 💥 (BTW: This is for a 14,000 person subscriber list with a 30% open rate with multiple monetization options.) We will negotiate more over Zoom, but we're in the ballpark . There IS NO RIGHT ANSWER. There's only a number that gets the DEAL DONE!

Howdy! Heads up, I am taking this week off to hang out with Jeannie and Eric. (I am taking a lot of time off this holiday season.) I won't be super quick to respond. While I'm chilling... Please collab and help each other. I see more collaborations happening than ever. I am pleased as punch about that. If you are having trouble getting collabs, co-ops, partners... Here are the BIGGEST MISTAKES I see regularly: 👎Requests for collab are too GENERAL and all about PRAHDUKT. This is even more true if you request a collab from an audience owner. An IDEA is NOT a specific plan to take something off the influencer's plate, help their people relieve pain and make them look like a hero. There are 4 things an audience owner wants. If you commit these to memory and APPLY them, you're deal-making mojo will line up so many deals you won't be able to handle them all. 1. They want to look like a hero. (Not a salesperson or someone who is money grabbing.) 2. They want to SOLVE a problem or relieve pain for their audience. 3. They want to save or make money. (Least important.) 4. They want someone else to do all the work and thinking! (👀) 👎Not thinking out and/or writing out your plan clearly. "I'm going to get you more buyers/traffic." lacks specifics. That is an IDEA, not a PLAN! A plan sounds more like this: (I'm not saying this would all be in an email/dm.) "You help parents get their newborns to sleep through the night. I've identified 35 new mom and parent newsletters with a combined circulation of over 1,500,000. I've already contacted five who are very open to putting your content inside their member's area as a bonus for their paid subscribers. I believe I can set up dozens of these buyer streams for you. I will handle all the reach out, negotiations and the tech side of getting your content in front of their buyers. This is a win for them because they get to help solve a problem for their audience. It's a win for their subscribers so they can get some sleep. I think it would be a big win for you to reach new parents who will become loyal, long-term customers for you. I don't want any money upfront. I want this to be an absolute no-brainer for you. We can discuss an amount per buyer lead that would be a steal for you! It would likely be a FRACTION of what you're paying now. I saw your ads on Facebook and figure you're paying at least $5 to $10 per lead and they are NOT buyers. I don't want anything close to that.

So, I’ve been lurking in Ronin for a few months, but it’s about time I crawled out of my hibernation cave and said hello. I’ve had my fair share of career lives , plus lived in four different countries. Sometimes it feels like I’ve lived nine lives already, just with fewer whiskers and more Wi-Fi. For the last few years, I’ve been recruiting/headhunting, mostly in tech. The last three years doing it freelance-style. At first, it felt amazing - no office hours, no fixed salary allowing me to grow my income and hopping from one timezone to another embracing the digital nomad life. But after a while, I found myself waking up at 4 a.m. for client calls, and the “freedom” started feeling more like freelance handcuffs. So, I decided to shake things up and embark on a journey of self-reinvention. In July 2023, I stumbled across Travis’ Set for Life in 6 Months. While I wasn’t quite ready at the time, by early 2024 I found myself here in Ronin, after catching one of his Zoom recordings. Now, I have zero prior marketing experience.
