6.0 Powerstroke Trans Cooler Lines. Rust vs ALDATA Time?
Hey guys, quick question. 2004 F250 6.0 Powerstroke with heavily rusted transmission cooler lines leaking. ALDATA shows about 1 hour per line, but this truck is pretty corroded (Midwest salt). How are you guys handling these in the real world? Are you quoting straight book time or adding extra for rust? How often are fittings snapping on you? And honestly do you even take jobs like this mobile, or leave them for a shop? Appreciate any input.

Quote high and if all goes well, bill the proper time. Its much easier to under promise and over deliver, than vice versa.
Scanner
I just bought the icon t10. I noticed that on every car the special functions is different. Does anybody have this scanner? I’m still learning it trying to figure out how to work it the other day. I had a crank no start and I wanted to check the RPMs on the crankshaft position sensor and I couldn’t figure out how to get to that setting under special functions

@Joel Adams start with an all system scan, choose your module, then do to the data subset you like. You can also use the obd generic function to get DTCs or basic powertrain data too

@Joel Adams I have not emailed any reports but it should be full capable of doing so. It will also hold tose for your records in its memory

I'm in Missouri and too stupid to say no. With that being said, i do just about everything. It keeps things interesting and if things go sideways, you gotta figure out a way to rectify it. Life's too short to be a pattern failure parts changer at a dealership.
Broken off spark plug
Someone sent me these photos asking if I could extract it. Never dealt with this. What’s the best way to go about it and should I even take the job? 14 bmw 320i fyi

Stay as far away from that as you can. Generally spark plugs don't break unless its a 3v ford, but its so prevalent that a tool was made to deal with that issues. No telling why it broke but something tells me me some fuckery was afoot and i picture this as a head pull to repair it
Scanner
What is the best scanner that can do most of the thing that is required of any modern car or truck. I’m currently have a otofix scans and a general scanner, sometime the otofix doesn’t have the option or the settings I need. That why I’m looking for another one. I’m willing to spend $2k or less. Any suggestions.

I rolled the dice on the Icon T10, had a 25% off coupon to top it off. Came out to $1400ish out the door. Its not the fastest thing out there but has been great on domestic and euro cars. I would definitely recommend it as a capable scanner.
