AMA Google Ads - August 2024
PPC Gang, I'm still in France enjoying some time away but will be on my way back home to the States on Saturday. Here is a picture of Luke (Co-founder of GMA) and I having a nice cigar and wine outside a restaurant in Paris. Send me your Google Ads questions in this thread and the first week of September I will do a Loom video answering them and give my advice and will post in the group for everyone to watch and review. Where are you in France?
Unstable CPA
Hi guys ! :D Today i'm posting because i'm having some questions about one of my campaigns. It's for a solar company, we target like.. 33% of france. I started on manual CPC with limited volume of KW. After advising my client to change a lot of things on his landing page, we managed to make the campagn to take off. I'm having a very unstable CPA and i'm wondering if i did some bad decisions. So, from feb 12 to 19, we had a very ugly CPA on manual CPC and i told my client to hold untill at least 15 conversions. Then i put the account on max conversions after only 8 conversions. We had a few costly conversions and then we started to have a very good CPA around 40€ for a few days. Then It dropped for two days. 0 conversions for 2 days. I was a bit frustrated and i thought that google was burning my clients money as far as i didn't capped the CPA yet. So i put a Target CPA at first at 50€ as far as i saw that the machine was capable of delivering 30-40€ conversions some days on this brand new account. Nothing for one day. Then i saw that google's recommendation was to put a target CPA at 68€. I did put it at 68€ on 9th march. We're having a good cost per conversion but it's like one day feast and one day famine. Also i'm in the red label "limited by budget". From march first to now we have a decent 48€/conversions. our search IS lost on budget is 64%, our search IS lost on rank is 30%. Should i wait for a complete 15days of around 48€ per conversions in order to start a slightly decrease of my tCPA -15% every week or is it too soon ? PS : I'd love to have some insights from @Austin LeClear

I've got 20 images in an Asset Group-Google is still not happy and is telling me I need to add "at least 1 vertical image"?? Not finding any info on what they require or how they define a vertical image... any ideas?

@Todd Creager oh ok i see. I think it's more about ratio than size. 9:16 should be good
Getting clicks, impr. but not conversions😑
Hello @Austin LeClear, I need your suggestions on the following results. Last month around 50 conversions had been recorded & I was pretty satisfied with the results. But, now in this month, only 5 conversions have been recorded 3 conversions were recorded on 5th March, and 2 conversions were recorded on 6th March. Since, 6th march I only got clicks, impr, etc. but not conversions. Why is that? Please suggest.

Did you checked the search terms ? Filtered by cpc and impressions ? Did you checked the landing page on other devices (+incognito mode) to see if anything can prevent people from converting ? What's your current bidding strategy ? Why do you have max clics and not max conv on non branded campaigns ?
Are Google search-ads the best-bet for targeting 'luxury homeowners'?
I overlook sales for a Seattle, WA based custom-tech integration company (home automation, A/V, smart-security, networking etc.). And our company is considering and exploring options for digital advertising and marketing in general. - We are trying to go after the luxury homeowner market. - We're looking for $50k above jobs. Ideally $150k-$300k - The custom-integration industry is highly dependent on word-of-mouth for having a filled pipeline. Specially for our industry, public-awareness is still a bottle-neck for what we see. Thus resulting in not enough search-volume on Google as-per our liking. And that coupled with us trying to hawk down the luxury-homeowners seems like a far-fetched idea. There's only 1 marketing agency dedicated to purely serving our industry, which shows that there isn't much scope of advertising in the custom integration market. I understand that Facebook ads probably won't work for us, as the people we're looking for won't be on Facebook (correct me if I'm wrong). But - 1. Are Google search ads even worth it for trying to sell such high-ticket services? 2. Considering Google and FB ads work great for Solar and HVAC installers, what kind of projects sizes (in terms of the budget that homeowners would usually have) should we be expecting if we try these advertising platforms for our integration firm? Are $10k to $15k still a far-fetch? Also, is it even possible to get 30+ conversions (form-fillup on landing page) per month when running Google ads, since that's the minimum requirement. 3. What marketing strategy and medium (Google, LinkedIn, etc.) would you suggest for our particular case? 4. Or should we avoid digital advertising and invest our marketing-budget into increasing the no. of referral-sources we have (architects, interior designers, builders, etc.)? I'll really really appreciate it if someone can address these 4 questions individually… That'll be super helpful. Thanks :)

I do google ads for a company that does only big "house renovation services". They go only after more than 100 000€ tickets. I flood them with leads. Obviously a lot of them are not only at 100 000€ tickets but they are very satisfied. There's a big work on landing pages and also on the form to disqualify bad conversions and make sure that google only "eats" the good conversions

@Troid Dutta i would not be able to describe it perfectly in English but let's say that its big home improvements. Like home extension, or they can add a floor to your house. They build houses too. They target wealthy people of south France
