Core Training Week šŸ’Ŗ
Taking Action: āœ… Who can commit to some core workouts this week?! Why Core Training Matters: This week, we’re shining the spotlight on your core—and for good reason! While sculpted abs are a great bonus, a strong core is essential for overall health and performance. Your core includes the abdominals, obliques, lower back, pelvic floor, and diaphragm. Together, these muscles serve as the body’s foundation, supporting nearly every movement you make. Benefits of a Strong Core: ✨ Improves Posture: Helps you stand taller and reduces strain on your spine. ✨ Reduces Back Pain: Stabilizes the lower back and prevents injury. ✨ Enhances Balance and Stability: Essential for daily activities and athletic performance. ✨ Boosts Functional Strength: Makes lifting, bending, and twisting easier and safer. ✨ Supports Digestion and Organ Function: A strong core promotes healthy circulation, breathing, and abdominal support. ✨ Protects Your Spine: Acts like a natural brace for improved alignment and stability. Think of your core as the body’s powerhouse—when it’s strong, everything else performs better.

Benefits of Seasonal Eating
TAKING ACTION: āœ… Choose at least one in-season food today and share a picture in the comments below! It can be as simple as adding strawberries to a salad!šŸ“ Happy Wednesday, friends! Who’s ready to fill up our glycogen stores today with healthy carbohydrates and pick up the heavy weights?! šŸ’Ŗ This week, we’re discussing the benefits of eating in season. What you’re going to find is that the benefits range from health to taste to financial! Eating in season really is a no-brainer! Let’s look at two of the benefits below (we’ll discuss more benefits throughout the week) ā¬‡ļø āļø Higher Nutrient Content: Seasonal produce is typically harvested at peak ripeness, when nutrient levels, like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, are highest. For example, spring foods like asparagus and strawberries are rich in vitamins K and C, which support bone health and skin health. Non-seasonal produce, often harvested early for transport, may lose nutrients during storage or ripening off the plant. ⭐ Better Flavor and Quality: In-season foods are fresher and tastier because they’re harvested at their optimal time and often travel shorter distances to market; therefore, keeping them fresher in terms of taste and nutrient density. Nutrient-dense foods are linked to better gut health and reduced risk of chronic diseases. As mentioned, we’ll discuss more benefits throughout the week, but for now, it’s important to know that eating in season means you’ll consume more nutrients, and at a better quality. This is important because the better quality of our nutrients, the better our overall health—and the better the flavor of our foods! šŸ’Æ

Spring Dinner Ideas šŸ’”
TAKING ACTION: āœ… What’s your favorite Spring fruit or vegetable? Share below! Yesterday, I introduced a brand new topic for most—the health benefits of eating in season (and more specifically, Spring since it’s Spring and all šŸ˜‰). Before we talk about the benefits, however, I want to talk about some of the foods you can buy that are in season right now. This will allow you to grab some of them early in the week and get started with eating in season! šŸ½ļøSpring Protein Sources: Lamb, eggs, salmon, Fava beans, and crab (or other shellfish) šŸ½ļøSpring Fruits: Strawberries, apricots, blackberries, and cherries šŸ½ļøSpring Vegetables: Asparagus, peas, artichokes, radishes, and spinach šŸ½ļøSpring Grains: Oats, barley, quinoa, and buckwheat šŸ½ļøSpring Nuts & Seeds: Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and almonds This list isn’t all-inclusive, but it’s a good starting point if you’ve never shopped for in-season foods. I’m also attaching a website/blog today that provides a more extensive list, and of course, Springtime recipes! Feel free to save it and use it as a resource this season! šŸ’ 24 Spring Dinner Ideas - Healthy Seasonal Recipes

Seasonal Eating šŸŒ šŸ„•
TAKING ACTION: āœ…Did you know that eating in season is beneficial for your health? Do you try to eat seasonal foods or have you ever thought about it? Happy Monday, friends! Can you believe we’re already one week into April? Spring is officially here, and I don’t know about you, but I am excited for some warmer weather and vitamin D! ā˜€ļø Speaking of Spring, I think it’s a good time to talk about a topic I’ve never covered before—seasonal nutrition or seasonal eating. šŸ“ Did you know that eating in season is beneficial for your health? The average person doesn’t consider consuming foods that are in season, but the reality is that doing so aligns your body with what naturally occurs in nature. Not only that, but foods eaten in season just taste better, wouldn’t you agree? This week, we’re going to talk about some of the health benefits that come from eating in season—and of course, I’m going to give you the deets on which foods you should grab on your grocery runs this Spring! šŸ›’ It’s going to be a fun week here in our small group space, and I know you’re going to love learning about the benefits of eating in season! Be sure to show up tomorrow for a list of foods that are in season for Spring! 🫶

I hadn’t really thought much about seasonal eating until recently. . It does make sense though.
AWARENESS + ACTION = RESULTS!
TAKING ACTION: āœ… Read today’s post and share how you personally navigate situations that are out of your control. Also, share your weekly win below! šŸŽ‰ It’s Friday, and we’re always up for a little fun around here on Fridays! For one, we always celebrate weekly wins, but generally speaking, our Friday posts are lighthearted and interactive. šŸŽ‰ With the weekend approaching (and our conversation about awareness this week), I want you to also consider the following question, and let’s chat about your answers in the comments below. ā“ How do you handle situations that are out of your control? Some examples include: šŸ‘‰Going to a restaurant that doesn’t have many (or any) healthy options. šŸ‘‰Going to a party or gathering where you’re not sure what will be served. šŸ‘‰Getting stuck in a situation where you end up getting way too hungry. šŸ‘‰Going on vacation and not having access to workout equipment and/or a gym. I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where we feel like we have no control. While these situations certainly arise now and then, I often find that we sometimes also use them as excuses and avoid trying to navigate them. We give up without giving our potential success a fair chance. We turn a blind eye to awareness because the lack of it feels easier. Friends, this will never get you to where you want to be. Awareness + Action = Results šŸ’Æ

If I cannot prepare in advance for something (eat before I go to the event or take something homemade with me), I guess I just have to remember that one event does not undermine my whole journey. That being said, in the interest of full transparency, this week I have been on the hot mess express. lol. I haven’t been home much. I have had little time to food prep or work out. I guess my win is that I survived and am planning to do better next week.
