Heavy editors..
When it comes to revealing the gallery to your clients to let them choose the pictures they like.. I understand that some people show quite a few photos and let the client choose the ones they prefer. I was wondering how to go about this when it comes to editing. For the people who prefer subtle edits do you edit all your photos before presenting? (Eg: 40 photos etc) And for the clients who edit abit heavier (which is what I’m trying to start doing more of) ho do you go about it? Do you let the clients choose the photos.. do you choose the photos yourself. And how much editing do you do when letting them choose? Because it takes me a while to edit my photos like below and to edit 40 photos for them to choose from I’d be editing for weeks 😂 Also.. for the ones who edit heavier.. how many photos do you usually finalise as part of their package etc. Thankyouuuuu

i used to edit my full galleries before showing. now i dont edit at all prior to showing but i tell my clients that. i used to also cull before showing but im changing my process a bit so im going to trial not culling either and just trying not to overshoot. in an ordering appointment earlier this year, i did do a basic edit (i think i only adjusted the exposure and white balance) in lightroom of 1 image just to show the client what it would look like because they made a few queries of what the final images would look like. i was literally sitting next to my client when i did that. i also dont change my editing per client, i have a set editing style. i dont know if that answers your question.

@Paula Rogerson back when i had set packages and was mostly photographing families and couples, i would show them anywhere from 50 images. my lowest package started at 10 and my highest package was all / 50+. it started getting to the point where i would struggle to cull down under 100 and then i would hate myself when clients bought the full gallery. obviously we love it when they buy the full gallery but i didnt charge enough for the amount of images and some images required extra editing like face swaps. ive since changed my digital package structure so that i dont have a limit per say. i have 3 packages (8, 15 and 25) and then they can just keep adding on sets of 10 to the top package until they run out of images. you could always edit 1 image to show what it would look like.
Wall Art
I'm looking to switch labs and am looking at Seldex, Global Image and Atkins. I'm probably going to choose different labs for different reasons. I'd love to hear from others who use any of these labs and their thoughts. I do have an Artisan Canvas with an ornate frame from Seldex, which I love, and also a torn-edge framed fine art piece (pictured below). Canvas is probably the finish I'm most interested in hearing about - boxed canvas - if others have them from any of these three labs.

for boxed canvas, ive only ever used bpro and my clients love them. i have been looking at seldex and gloabl image for the ornate canvas but im struggling to decide who to go with however i have yet to order a sample. ive been considering switching to seldex for albums but again, havent ordered a sample. after reading these comments, i might start looking at global image and photomart for more stuff.
Number of photos per session fee
Hi guys. Do you have a set amount of photos you edit in each session? I’ve been doing 10-15 but charging so little that it’s not been worth my time. I’m upping my prices quite abit after the new year because I can’t do it anymore. I’m thinking of a £160 session fee which will include their social media low resolution files. And then high res digital and prints/wall art charged on top. Does anyone ever get clients complain that someone else got more images than them? I don’t know whether to do a set amount of images or a rough amount eg 5-10/10-15. Any advise appreciated. It’s nice to see people actually discussing how much they charge usually people don’t want to discuss but I need guidelines 😂

I'm the same as Ina. I don't have a set all in package anymore partly because i dont want people to buy it just cos its a good deal. My session fees now start at $1290 which includes a 1000 credit AU. The session fees go up based on the number of locations, number of outfit changes, number of people and whether its a weekend/weekday or peak holiday period and if it's a destination. my price list is pretty much completely al a carte. You really need to charge based on off your cost of doing business. I've currently got it worked out that i need a minimum average of $2690 from each session so I've made my "middle collection" that price which includes 15 images both digital and printed in a portfolio box. All my products come with the matching digitals. i also offer a printed album of 25 images for 3690 and they can add on in sets of 10 for 890 to that. if they dont want the prints, the price is the same for just digitals. lowest digital collection is 8 for 1690. i also now tell people that people can spend anywhere between their session fee with the credit to $10,000 and more. with this new pricing, i have literally just launched it. my old pricing was kinda stuck in the middle zone which of course was competing with many others.
Take 2 for dog xmas mini test shoot
Different location this time and adjusted a couple things with the decor. I plan on removing the leash. Would this be ok for using for advertising?

as for the minis, you can definitely set them up to be profitable. for the 13 emails, none have booked but i havent sent follow ups which i probably should. my first date was set for this Saturday.

@Ina Jalil the scariest part for me personally was hearing the big gusts of wind and worrying that it was going to push trees over onto our house. once it left us, it actually built up power and did a bunch of damage to a remote luxury lodge in WA
