Staying Cohesive
Hi guys. I do have my style of editing that I like. Sometimes it’s hard to achieve just because my photoshop skills are still developing. But I do struggle sometimes to stay cohesive throughout my clients edits. As you all know, shooting outside the lights always different even from one shot to another, the backdrop is different as it changes throughout the seasons and sometimes even in each shot for me too as I live in England 😂 I was wondering if anyone has any tips on keeping my images cohesive. I use Lightroom classic and Photoshop for reference. I’m aware of the pasting settings and masks. But I feel I’m doing something wrong. I also feel it’s time for me to start shooting better. I used to shoot whatever I could get. But I feel I need to start planning out my shots better. Which is hard when we have tornado dogs on our sessions 🌪️ 😂 I shot a session last week and it’s so hard for me to edit in my style because it was such a bright day and I was in a different location not much shade. My style is more moody sometimes slightly underexposed look and towards a fine art style for outdoor photography. Sorry for the long message but grateful of any tips as I’m self taught I’ve been doing this for one year xx
Heavy editors..
When it comes to revealing the gallery to your clients to let them choose the pictures they like.. I understand that some people show quite a few photos and let the client choose the ones they prefer. I was wondering how to go about this when it comes to editing. For the people who prefer subtle edits do you edit all your photos before presenting? (Eg: 40 photos etc) And for the clients who edit abit heavier (which is what I’m trying to start doing more of) ho do you go about it? Do you let the clients choose the photos.. do you choose the photos yourself. And how much editing do you do when letting them choose? Because it takes me a while to edit my photos like below and to edit 40 photos for them to choose from I’d be editing for weeks 😂 Also.. for the ones who edit heavier.. how many photos do you usually finalise as part of their package etc. Thankyouuuuu

Editing and composition help pleaseeee!
Hey guys. The tree photo is how I’ve been typically shooting my sessions for the past year. And the Doberman is one I did recently and that’s how I want to start editing more. In my sessions I want to start including some photos where it’s not really about the background as such.. more about the dog and a good bokeh/blur. I was wondering if anyone had any photos like that for inspo? I do love the photos where most of the image is bokeh/blurred and just the subject is in focus.. maybe in some grass.. a lavender field.. a tree stump etc. I recently bought the Sony 85mm 1.8. But I am on a cropped sensor and thinking of upgrading to the a7ii for full frame. I hope I’m making sense? Feel free to post inspo below I’d love to see and have some ideas and lens options xoxo

@Mary Catala I’ve been looking at your Instagram I love your photos. I love how you mainly focus on the pet and the portrait itself and not so much the background because I suppose that means you don’t have to overthink where you take the photos. I need to find a lavender field near me because I love everyone lavender shoots so much! I want to start focusing more on the subject themselves, editing less photos but more value if you know what I mean. I want to create art. And I love your editing I lovvveeee blur xoxo

@Mary Catala funny you say that because I’ve just now put a post on asking about this 😂
Number of photos per session fee
Hi guys. Do you have a set amount of photos you edit in each session? I’ve been doing 10-15 but charging so little that it’s not been worth my time. I’m upping my prices quite abit after the new year because I can’t do it anymore. I’m thinking of a £160 session fee which will include their social media low resolution files. And then high res digital and prints/wall art charged on top. Does anyone ever get clients complain that someone else got more images than them? I don’t know whether to do a set amount of images or a rough amount eg 5-10/10-15. Any advise appreciated. It’s nice to see people actually discussing how much they charge usually people don’t want to discuss but I need guidelines 😂

@Isabella Giffard hey thanks for your reply! Yes I am now thinking about doing Al a Carte too. I still have a bit of imposter syndrome because I am self taught so the thought of me messing up a shot scares me when they are paying so much 😩 Thanks for being so open about your proves it really helps to see what others charge and manage to make xx

@Ina Jalil thats a great idea I love that xx
Hey everyone! I’m Paula.
I’m 32 I’m from Yorkshire England and this is me and my girl. Her name is Rain. She inspired my pet photography business ‘Raincloud Photography’ Rain is a reactive German Shepherd and because of her I am able to photograph other peoples reactive pets as she has given me first hand experience in this type of behaviour. I’m so happy I became a pet photographer because if not I wouldn’t have been able to capture beautiful images of her as she doesn’t like most people. I’m here as I recently left one of my part time jobs and I am aiming to grow my business and be taken more seriously really. I’ve been doing cheap shoots for a year now and I’m ready to up my game. Been listening to Ina’s podcasts and I love them! And she lead me here. So Hi! Xx
