Number of photos per session fee
Hi guys. Do you have a set amount of photos you edit in each session? I’ve been doing 10-15 but charging so little that it’s not been worth my time. I’m upping my prices quite abit after the new year because I can’t do it anymore. I’m thinking of a £160 session fee which will include their social media low resolution files. And then high res digital and prints/wall art charged on top. Does anyone ever get clients complain that someone else got more images than them? I don’t know whether to do a set amount of images or a rough amount eg 5-10/10-15. Any advise appreciated. It’s nice to see people actually discussing how much they charge usually people don’t want to discuss but I need guidelines 😂
Custom session fees
Does anyone do custom session fees based on how much time a portrait session will take? Like say you do a consult call with a lead and what theyre after is simple and won’t take long like 1 location, just their dog, one hero piece of wall art. You then have a consult call with someone else and they’re looking for more like multiple locations, multiple subjects, printed albums, multiple wall art. Do you quote them different fees so you make sure your hourly rate is covered or do you charge them the same fee and run the risk of the longer job deciding not to purchase much so you make less per hour.
Pricing and product package
How are you doing your pricing? Session fees then al a carte, packages and what do you include? And what products sell the best?
Collages and albums
Hi. After some client chats I want to add options to my price list for people wanting multiple images. The first thing I want to add is a collage of five photos. How would you price this compared to a single image? for example my small single wall art is $495 for a 12 x 18 inch canvas or metal print. I’m also wondering if this size is too small for a collage of 5 Images? After that I have had an album sample for months that I’m stuck on pricing- I currently only have a choice of 3 or 10 gift prints
Artist contacted me to photograph for a portrait he will do
Here's an odd one: an out of state artist is asking me to photograph a person & their mini-horse in my region to provide images that he can paint. I think the artist is my client 🤷🏼‍♀️ - but is he? Do I contract with him and charge the session fees (there will be a travel fee)? What do I charge him to use an image from the session? Is it ethical to do IPS with the client afterwards? Or, do I contract with the client, do the IPS and let them share the images?
