The "Good Enough" Protocol
I had Sage help me create this to deal with anxiety I get around my perfectionism, overachieving and people-pleasing masks so I can learn to mask less and live more authentically when preparing for an event or an activity that I know is going to trigger those tendencies. I thought I would share it here in case it's helpful for anyone else. The Good Enough Protocol For any situation where perfectionism, people-pleasing, or overachieving show up. The underlying fear these masks protect against: that being visibly imperfect in front of others will cost you something (love, belonging, respect, reputation as the reliable one). Phase 1: Pre-Load (2 to 3 hours before) 1a. Define "good enough" in writing. Before your in-the-moment brain can move the goalposts, write: "This is a success if ____." Keep the bar stupidly low. Think minimum viable, not maximum impressive. The perfectionist brain will try to raise it on arrival. Your pre-written version overrides the in-the-moment negotiation. 1b. Write three permission slips. Out loud or on paper. Tailor to the situation, but some evergreen ones: - I have permission to reference notes, pause, or say "let me check" - I have permission to let others do their part without my control or rescue - I have permission to be visibly uncertain without apologizing for it 1c. Nervous system prep (10 minutes). Short version of the reset: 20 jumping jacks, 2 minutes shaking, 10 physiological sighs. You're getting ahead of the cortisol, not chasing it after it spikes. Phase 2: The Threshold (on arrival, before it starts) 2a. Brief the other humans, don't download to them. If other people are involved, give them one clear job, not a full summary of your plan. This solves the "they don't know what I'm doing" anxiety by redirecting you from managing their experience to defining their contribution. 2b. Handle the uncertain logistics first. Whatever physical or practical piece you're unsure about, do that first. If it doesn't fit or work, you have time to adapt. If it does, one anxiety loop closes before you even begin.

Hey Jim, just a thought, it would be great if we had the option to rename Library items. That way if we have a statement or protocol from Sage that we flag to save to our library, we can name it something that makes it easier to reference/find quickly. It applies in the same way we can rename our conversations with Sage. For instance, Sage helped design me a Nervous System Reset protocol to use last night after my day job took every last drop of energy from me during the day and I needed a reset to face my evening. Looking back through the library for it, it'll be difficult to recognize it the way it was saved. I did copy and paste it into a Google Doc for safe keeping, but I thought this would be a nice feature if possible in the future.
Keywords
What keywords would you use to search for a community like this? Skool has a new update and now lets me add up to 11 keywords so people can actually find our community when they search. This is huge, because there are so many people out there who need a place like this but don't know we exist yet. So here's my question: If you were searching for a community like ADHD Harmony, what words would you type in? Drop your ideas in the comments. The better our keywords, the easier it is for people like us to find each other. Thanks for helping me help more people. šŸ’›

@Renold Revales Yes to all of these!
Identify Transformation Worksheet
I did a lot of reflecting prior to the Somatic session earlier this week, and I had some of this worked out because of that, but today I actually got through the worksheet. Through all of that, I have realized something I've been carrying since I was twelve: the belief that I need to be small and invisible so everyone else's needs can come first. I built my whole life around taking up less space. But I'm a writer, a creator. My entire calling requires me to be visible. Today I named the old identity, and I'm choosing a new one. The table has room for me. I always belonged there.

@Tuuli Gress Birth order definitely plays a huge role, but I've actually got that Eldest Daughter thing happening. I'm the oldest of three girls, but my family took in troubled teenage girls (most with violent gang backgrounds and mental health challenges) from the time I was 12, and I realized really quickly when that happened that there wasn't room for me to be the me I had been up to that point anymore and I made myself small, easy, and started letting everyone else's needs take priority over my own.

Welcome! Your life sounds adventurous! I love Thailand. My goal is to transition out of my day job into my own creative work and consulting so I can work from anywhere. Which do you prefer to spend your time in out of Bali, Thailand, or Vietnam?
