Game Prop Modeling in Blender! - Course?
Hey! I want to make a fun course on modeling game props - simple, boxy things for this round, but maybe in future offerings, make it more complex. Was thinking it could go over the basics of modeling, texturing, etc. Then we could do a few projects together... Was thinking low poly modeling projects like: Mug and Plate Old Book Ammo Box Potion bottle Crate Treasure Chest What do you think? Interested? Any feedback or ideas on how to make it better?

That sounds amazing! And like a good combination of objects. Maybe with a key for the chest as well?
Text and Proper Topology
When generating text in Blender, the faces and vertices are not created optimally for certain types of animation and surfacing. After viewing several YouTube videos it is a very arduous task to fix. Can't Blender be updated to just create proper text when you first generate it?

@Martin Kelly fantastic! I've never set up a physical studio like that, but I have studied some photography and I've done techniques like this in other 3D packages in the past. And have a few "physical photoshoot setup" scenes that worked really well. It's definitely meant to mimic that, and I think I might've learned something like this from GreyScaleGorilla originally, which would make sense, because he was a photographer first. Anyway, glad it helped! I'd love to see how you use it when you do some renders.

@Martin Kelly all good! I've used it a fair bit, but only for a really small number of things. But once upon a time, I worked with 3D all the time... and blender is a seriously quality piece of software. Thankful for that! Anyway, glad it was one of the things I knew how to do that helped :)

@Martin Kelly very cool! Glad you got it sorted. I've done it in a game engine but not in Blender. But you can cheat more in a game engine. lol. And yeah, I'd love to see the result if that's allowed here.

@Martin Kelly looks great! Good job.
Render Samples behaviour
Hi all. Any idea why changing the samples in the render output, changes how my animation plays in the timelne? Cheers. Martin.

If you're using physics, that could mess it up because it's having to calculate the samples for the frame and breaking physics in the process. In that case, you could get the animation right and then bake it and then you can render however you'd like.

@Martin Kelly it's been a WHILE since I've done it, but I'm 99% sure you can still bake the physics. I think it was like Blender 2.8 or something... but you can bake the physics and then play them back realtime, but you can rebake as desired til you get the right result, and then it's "locked in" til you clear the cache. Might be a good option for a future thing!
What do you want to learn in Blender?
I'm going to be making more YouTube videos on blender. I want to know what you want to learn. Where do you want to get started?

I'd love to learn more about uv unwrapping/mapping. I am TERRIBLE at it. I always kludge it around until I finally get it (usually) but that's an area I'd really like to learn more about.
