Davinci Resolve - Volume issue
I did something and the volume on my compound click is too loud now. I couldn't figure to find the original cause. I checked audio levels in Inspector they were the same levels as in normal clips. I checked FairLight and I didn't see any gain plugins applied. I am stuck. I would appreciate any help.

It turned out the issue wasn’t caused by the white line in DaVinci Resolve. What actually happened was this: before creating a compound clip, I increased the audio volume on that section. And when I compounded it, Resolve doubled the adjustment — the volume boost was applied both on the original timeline and inside the compound clip. So the audio ended up being raised by about 10 dB twice. To fix it, I opened the compound clip and removed the extra volume increase. That resolved the audio problem. I also decomposed the clip afterward just to make sure everything was clean and consistent. I guess the moral of the story - you should be careful when you compound a clip

@Andrew Farmer thank you for your help
Use Curves for Instant Pop
If your color feels a little flat, try this quick trick. On the color page, open the custom curves and add a small upward point in the highlights, then add a tiny downward point in the shadows. This creates a light S curve bump that adds contrast and depth without touching any other tools. It takes less than ten seconds and works on almost any clip.Give it a try on your next edit and let me know if you see the difference.

@Andrew Farmer do you know any safe ways to check your colors if you are not sure if your monitor is color accurate?

Community Update: A Fresh Direction: "Resolve School"
Hey everyone, I wanted to take a moment to give you a quick update about where this community is headed. Over the past few months, I’ve bounced between a few different focuses here (thanks, ADHD), from helping creators find clarity in their strategy to improving the creative process as a whole. But when I step back and look at the questions I get most, the DMs that come in, and even the conversations happening on YouTube, almost all of them come back to one thing: editing in DaVinci Resolve. That’s where I’m spending most of my time, and it’s where I can help you get the fastest, clearest results. So, I’m making the full shift. This community is becoming "Resolve School". This means everything here will now be centered around learning, improving, and mastering DaVinci Resolve. You’ll still get the same type of value, quick tips, mini-tutorials, edit challenges, feedback threads, and behind-the-scenes process breakdowns, but all through the lens of Resolve. My goal is to make this the best place online for learning to edit faster, cleaner, and more confidently in DaVinci Resolve. I know I’ve changed direction a few times, and I really appreciate those of you who’ve stuck with me through that. It’s been part of figuring out where I can make the biggest impact. This new direction feels aligned, focused, and clear, and I think it’s going to create a lot more momentum for everyone involved. If DaVinci Resolve is your main editor (or if you’re switching to it), you’re going to get a ton out of what’s coming next. Thanks again for being here and for rolling with the changes. I’m excited to build Resolve School with you. — Andrew

Clarity Kickoff: Getting My Focus Back This Week 🎯
I’ll be honest, I’ve been struggling to find my rhythm lately. I’ll have a good week on YouTube or here in the community, then life hits and my momentum slips. So this week, I’m keeping it simple: I’m focusing on one small win. For me, that’s posting a video by Friday, no overthinking, nothing fancy. What about you? What’s one small thing you want to actually finish this week? Drop it below, maybe we can keep each other accountable.

Right now, my biggest challenge is editing. I’m trying to convince myself to just let go a little — not to overcut, not to worry about adding too many graphics. I don’t even add much anyway, but sometimes I get stuck for hours trying to figure out how to do some small editing thing, and it completely kills my motivation to keep going. Other times, I start thinking about my script, trying to make it better, recording a take, realizing it’s not perfect, and then going back to change things again. I end up stuck in this endless loop of improving, and it just drains all the fun out of the process. I’m trying to remind myself that I just need to make the video — keep it simple, do the basic cuts, trim out mistakes and pauses, and that’s it. Don’t worry about graphics, music, or the perfect script. I just want to build the habit of making videos consistently, because I actually enjoy making them — it’s just the over-editing and constant tweaking that kills my motivation. So I think I just need to start, not be afraid to make an okay video, and stop chasing perfection — at least for now.

@Nancy W I can't even imagine how difficult to make these type of videos.
Member Spotlight: The Real Truth About “Being Authentic” on YouTube
I want to give a quick shout-out to @Yury Gural , one of our Creator Lab members. He has a short 3-minute video called “The Truth About Being Authentic on YouTube,” and it absolutely nails a perspective most creators miss. His point: being “authentic” doesn’t mean avoiding influence or copying. We’ve learned by copying since day one, from our parents to our favorite creators. The key is how we use what we learn. Take the best ideas, the cleanest techniques, and make them fit who you truly are and the creator you’re becoming. It’s one of the most thoughtful takes I’ve heard on authenticity. Go give it a watch, leave him a comment, and show him some support.→ https://youtu.be/LCNoN2l8On4?si=wk7Uvo7bpVay9tAk What stood out to you most from his message?

Thank you for the shout-out. I hope this idea helps others feel more comfortable learning from others while staying true to themselves.
