Huge Mistake! I uploaded to Ingram First
Hi Friends, What are your thoughts on this? My print book was uploaded to Ingram Spark before pre-sale and launch a few months ago. I didn’t know that they would also distribute it on Amazon. I learned today that Ingram doesn’t allow you to opt out from making it available there. I didn’t want to upload to Amazon until I was ready to release the book. Now that I’m ready to release the book, I cannot program a presale on Amazon because it’s already there and I have no control over the pricing. What do you recommend I do? Should I cancel my account with Ingram and upload everything again on both platforms at the same time? Thank you 🙏🏽

Hi, @Gustavo Monje! Amazon KDP doesn't offer print pre-orders (only ebook), so we actually use IngramSpark for print preorders on Amazon by default. The price should match what you put in Ingram when you uploaded there. Once you upload and publish your print book through KDP, the Ingram-created listing will be taken over by KDP on the Amazon retail side of things. It doesn't sound to me like you've done anything wrong except perhaps made your print book available earlier than you intended to. If needed, you can ask IngramSpark to remove your print book from distribution, but that will make it unavailable everywhere Ingram distributes to, not just Amazon.

@Gustavo Monje I have seen that happen, though it's uncommon in my experience. When it does happen, reaching out to KDP or Author Central support will typically resolve it quickly.

Woohooo!!!! Today is launch day, and I think this is what we all hope for! Anyone want to prep me for the launch hangover that’s coming!!!! Thank you so much to the Book Launchers team for your stellar advice leading up to this!

Cover Cwestions...
GetCovers.com was mentioned by Stephen Shapiro in another post and I didn't want to hijack it to ask him about it there, so I am putting it out here! When I first began writing my book I looked through Thousands of images at many online sites for DIY covers (as I prefer to do things myself when possible) and eventually found Canva. Finally, One Image stopped my scrolling and I made a cover! Since then I have read Bad things about using Canva! After checking out getcovers just now, I like the potential to get More of what I created in my head, before I decided on my Canva option, which I Do Like a Lot! I have already Used it on my website and have spread it around in all my Socials, as well as on Business Cards! Do I Dare Wipe Out all Evidence of my Canva cover (destroy 500 business cards, delete the image everywhere online!) and go for a New Option, and possibly see what was in my head over a year ago become a reality?! I can Describe what I envisioned for the cover and post my Canva one if it is allowed. Thanks!

@Julie Broad I'm afraid not, sorry.
What is the best minimal combo (in addition to KDP)?
I have 11 titles self published on Amazon. What is the best combo of additional publishing platforms, like Ingram Spark, Draft to Digital, Street Lib, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, Apple, Google and others? Now I am seeing Spotify entering the fray. I have a few of my KDP books on Barnes and Noble and a few on Ingram Spark and Draft to Digital. I am looking to publish on the least amount of platforms with maximum coverage and distribution. Is there a best combo in addition to KDP? I would like to get more into libraries and bookstores.

Hi @Jeff Mildon - outside of Amazon, we use IngramSpark for print and Draft2Digital for ebooks. This combination reaches the widest range of retailers (including B&N and Apple) and includes library distribution without having to upload in a dozen different places. :)
kdp hasn't paid me royalties after 2 months. Is this normal?
Hi Non-fiction legends, 1st time author here. It's almost 10 weeks since my book went live. We had a good launch. However, 10 weeks later, haven't gotten paid by Amazon. I have checked my KDP account; no payments, no issues highlighted. Am I missing something?

Barry is exactly right. Amazon KDP pays royalties 60 days after the close of the sales month. It feels like it takes forever to see the first round of payments come through, doesn't it?
