Making Friends with Venus
Venus has packed her favorite linen tote bag and officially moved into Virgo today— and I have to admit, she looks rather happy there. Venus is the planet of love, beauty, pleasure, friendships, money, flowers, good food, and all the little things that make life sweeter. Virgo, meanwhile, isn't nearly as interested in grand gestures as it is in thoughtful ones. So, during the next few weeks, don't be surprised if love starts speaking a slightly different language. Instead of, "I bought you diamonds," it's more likely to say, "I made you soup," "I watered the tomatoes," or "I remembered exactly how you take your coffee." Under Venus in Virgo, affection often arrives wearing work gloves. This is one of the best times of the year to beautify your surroundings— not because they have to look like something out of a magazine, but because a little order brings a surprising amount of peace. Straighten one drawer. Weed one flower bed. Polish the kitchen table. Buy fresh flowers. Buy new sheets for the bed. Cook a healthy meal. Virgo reminds us that our outer world quietly influences our inner world. You don't have to overhaul your entire life— just improve one little corner of it. Small acts have a funny way of becoming big blessings. Relationships benefit from the same philosophy. This isn't the time to expect perfection—from yourself or anyone else. (Thank goodness, because perfection has terrible people skills.) Instead, notice what people are trying to do for you. Appreciate the friend who checks in, the neighbor who waves, the partner who fills your gas tank, or the cashier who smiles after a long day. Venus in Virgo has an uncanny ability to help us discover that love often hides inside ordinary moments we've been too busy to notice. So here's my suggestion for the next several weeks: slow down just enough to appreciate the little things. Read a few pages of a good book. Enjoy and admire Ma Nature's bounty. Write a thank-you note. Pet the cat. (My Misha-cat insists that this is the most astrologically-advanced recommendation in the entire forecast.)
Making Friends with Venus
Preparing for a Digital Fast
I recently watched an interview with a 97-year-old philosopher, filmed just months before he passed. At the 15-minute mark, he talks about seeing trees blowing in the wind as a transcendent moment — and admits he didn't always see it that way. That stuck with me. I want to see even the smallest things as transcendent, always. And I don't think I'm finding that by continuing to look things up, scroll, and stay tethered to a screen. I have an addiction to technology — no doubt about it. So I'm preparing to break free: one full week with no technology, no filming. Starting next week. I'll share a few thoughts over the next few days as I get ready. Maybe there's something in your own life you're ready to unplug from too.

I get it. Thanks for showing up for all of us day after day. You've earned a week of unplugging. Just don't be surprised if a few squirrels start wondering where their favorite human wandered off to. Thank you for your consistency, your encouragement, and for building such a positive community. You've certainly earned this break. May the trees, birds, and fresh air remember your password better than the internet does. Enjoy every minute, my friend.
Gentle, Calming & Grounding
Today is a gentle, Qigong-inspired movement session designed to calm the nervous system, stretch the body, and help you feel grounded. Move slowly, connect your breath to each movement, and bring your full attention to the present moment.

@Drew Hopper Beautiful thoughts, Drew. I think that 97-year-old philosopher discovered something we all spend a lifetime relearning—that wonder was never missing; sometimes our attention was. I've found that most of life's best lessons arrive without Wi-Fi. A breeze through the trees, the first flower opening in the morning, a bird deciding to sing outside the window, or my cat Misha reminding me that a sunny patch of carpet is apparently one of the universe's greatest inventions. I'll admit, I have a little technology habit too. The irony isn't lost on me that I'm reading your invitation to unplug...on a screen. May your week away bring you exactly what you're looking for: quieter thoughts, slower moments, and a renewed appreciation for the ordinary miracles that have been waiting patiently all along. We'll be here when you get back.
Loosen Your Back, Calm Your Nervous System
Today we continue to move naturally and live naturally with gentle movement that helps release stress, tension, and stiffness in the lower back. As you move, connect your breath to each movement and bring your attention to the present moment. A little mindful movement can go a long way in calming the nervous system and helping the body feel its best.

@Kris Lmehlow Sounds intense. Deep breaths. Lots of water. And, hopefully some unexpected help with lots of muscles and a strong back will appear. — I hope the temperatures have cooled off for you. Up here, it's much milder than this time last week. Fingers crossed for your success.

@John Sev Cool, John! I didn't see it during the first round. Good eyes!
Food For Astrological Thought
Beginning July 7th, Neptune— the planet of dreams, intuition, compassion, imagination, and spirituality— begins what astrologers call a retrograde journey until December 12th, 2026. Read on a bit longer, please. Unlike what's called Mercury retrograde, which has a habit of hiding your reading glasses, scrambling your computer, or convincing your GPS that you really wanted to visit Nebraska, Neptune works much more quietly. Think of it as a gentle morning fog slowly lifting. Over the next five months, many of us will begin seeing situations, relationships, and even ourselves with a little greater honesty. Sometimes that clarity feels wonderfully freeing. Other times it gently reminds us that we've been wearing rose-colored glasses. Either way, truth is a remarkably good traveling companion. Neptune retrograde invites us to spend a little less time listening to the noise of the outside world, and a little more time listening to the quiet wisdom within. Meditation, prayer, gardening, taking peaceful walks, keeping a dream journal, writing, painting, or simply sitting beneath your favorite tree become especially nourishing now. Don't expect answers to arrive with fireworks or a brass band. More often, they'll quietly wander into your awareness while you're watering flowers, pulling weeds, washing dishes, or watching a butterfly drift across the garden. The soul, after all, rarely shouts. It whispers. On a practical level, this is also a wonderful time to simplify your life. Clean the junk room. Let go of a few unnecessary obligations. Spend more time with the people who leave you smiling, and a little less with those who consistently leave you drained. Neptune gently reminds us that healthy boundaries aren't selfish— they're part of good spiritual housekeeping. Compassion doesn't mean carrying everyone else's backpack. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is trust that another person is stronger than they realize. Don't be surprised if your priorities begin shifting between now and December. You may discover that what once seemed urgent no longer feels quite so important. Instead, your heart may be drawn toward simpler pleasures, healthier habits, more meaningful friendships, time in Nature, or a deeper connection with your own spirit.
