Kiln Heat Proofing advice.
My studio has a wooden floor covered in Lino and when I fire my kiln I stand it on a piece of fire proof plaster board to stop the Lino melting and the floor burning. To date, I have only ever done earthenware glaze firings but would like to do some work with stoneware. My concern is that I have noticed the Lino has gone brown due to the heat and I am now worried that firing at cone 6 and holding for 30 mins, will be too much for my studio flooring and cold potentially catch fire. I have a Cromartie Hobbytech 40 kiln on wheels and it stands about 2 inches off the floor. Does anyone have any suggestions please. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Xx

@Jeanette Stevens what happened to Louise. I haven’t seen that. I looked for the post but couldn’t find it?

Just save her post. That’s awful. 😢
Remember My “Secret Chip Experiment”…? Here’s The Result 👀
I finally managed to finish editing and upload my Mystery Glaze Chip experiment video to YouTube 💜 To put this experiment into context… I actually started this around 6 weeks ago 😅 It’s involved: ✨ two low-fire firings ✨ two cone 6 firings ✨ multiple rounds of testing ✨ test tiles AND actual functional pieces Some of you may have spotted a few of the pieces appearing in my last kiln opening video, and quite a few people have been asking what on earth I’ve been testing 😂 As most of you know… I LOVE glaze chips, I LOVE testing, and I really wanted to venture into the unknown a little and see just how far I could take this experiment. Needless to say… this definitely isn’t the end of it. If anything, this feels like the beginning because I now want to take the testing even further 👀 It’s honestly taken me over 2.5 weeks just to edit together all the footage, firings, tests and photos from the past 6 weeks into one video, and trying to make it flow coherently was definitely a challenge 😅 So apologies if parts feel a little chaotic or rabbit-warren-like! But I’m genuinely SO excited by some of the things I’ve learned and some of the results that came out of this. I actually shared a tiny sneak peek of this experiment in a Skool call weeks ago, so this is where the experiment has progressed to now 💜 Would absolutely love to hear what you think if you decide to take a peek 😊 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srzbVWc8kZo

@Jeanette Stevens I will definitely be interested in the results. I’m not brave enough to try the experiments myself so it’s great that you do the work and we can learn by your mistakes and also enjoy your successes.

@Jeanette Stevens I love it when I can watch things like this and actually understand what you are talking about. It makes me realise how much I have learnt from watching you and the other girls on YouTube. It gives me so much inspiration.

Beautiful. Happy Birthday Bel. Hope you have a fabulous day xxx
Hey guys… I can’t quite believe I’m typing this…
I’ve got a kiln opening on YouTube tonight 🥹💛 Honestly… it felt SO strange filming it. I was stood there thinking “how do I even do this again?!” 😅 I felt really anxious beforehand, completely rusty, and at times my words just would not come out how they normally do. There are definitely moments where I’m like… who is this woman and what is she trying to say 😂 So yes… presentation-wise it might be my most “rusty Jeanette” video to date… BUT thankfully I was really happy with what came out of the kiln, which is the main thing! I genuinely have no idea what the algorithm is going to do with it after being away for so long — it might just quietly disappear into the YouTube abyss — but I wanted to share it with you all because you’ve been such a huge part of this journey. Being on the other side of everything now still feels surreal. It’s definitely shifted my mindset, and I’m just so, so grateful — for my family, for this community, and for being able to be back in the studio doing what I love again 💛 The video will be available to watch at 6pm UK time — I’ll pop a link below that should show it in your own timezone (thank you Gwen for that little gem!) Hope it works! <t:1776272400:F> And… if you do fancy giving the algorithm a little nudge for me, a like/comment on the video would mean the world 💛And if anyone happens to have any Hypes left and feels like using one… I think it helps?! 😂 (still figuring that one out!) ** Have any of you ever had that “first time back” feeling after a break? It really threw me! ** Big love to you all https://youtu.be/yttFNeltXRU?si=ENTGUDlAeZsLuuYQ

How best to use a Wet Box.
I have just made myself a wet box and I’m not sure what I should stand my work on when I put it in the box. Does it go directly on the wet plaster or do I need to put something else on the plaster first. Any advice gratefully received. 🙏

I hadn’t thought about using a sponge Teresa. I will give that a go as well. Thank you xxx
