Kiln Heat Proofing advice.
My studio has a wooden floor covered in Lino and when I fire my kiln I stand it on a piece of fire proof plaster board to stop the Lino melting and the floor burning.
To date, I have only ever done earthenware glaze firings but would like to do some work with stoneware. My concern is that I have noticed the Lino has gone brown due to the heat and I am now worried that firing at cone 6 and holding for 30 mins, will be too much for my studio flooring and cold potentially catch fire. I have a Cromartie Hobbytech 40 kiln on wheels and it stands about 2 inches off the floor.
Does anyone have any suggestions please.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Xx
