Job seeking, asking for help
On a different note. While I'm building up an email list in the weight loss niche, I need to keep a steady job. In the last few years, I’ve done a fair bit of copywriting but now I’ve come to realize that my greatest strength lies in sales, as in face-to-face sales (or Zoom of course). I’m a closer. I have no interest in lead gen or 'setting appointments’. I’m a closer. That is my strength. I’m looking for a remote (at least mostly) Inbound Closer position with a solid high-ticket sales company. $10K-$50K per sale with a decent/generous commission structure. I can use any script provided but I have proprietary sales scripts that can outstrip even some of the best scripts I’ve seen. A bold statement. I only ask to be put to the test. I’m a closer. I can produce. I figured I would post in here as many of you might know and be in touch with many of the top DR marketing companies. I’m quite happy to work on commission only, but want to find the right fit for my skills, generous commissions, and a company culture that I can get behind wholeheartedly. I currently have a sales ‘job’. I did $151K in sales last month and I like my fellow salespeople there... But it is a job after all, the commissions are a bit stingy, and I need a more expansive situation. That’s it. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I do appreciate it. When the Wrong Words WILL Wreck Your Wallet
Do you write these wallet wreckers? There IS a time when your copy can save you money and make a fortune… So I’ve said fifty-eleven times that when it comes to “sales” it’s the offer and what happens BEFORE the sale (Pre-selling) that matters most. Not the purty words. 100% Useful! But… There IS 100% a time when the words you use TOTALLY matters. When? 👉 When you MUST get the TRUTH on the table. Say/write the WRONG words and peeps close up, tuck tail and run…or they lie. (Fight or flight) Say/write the RIGHT words and they relax, feel safe and open up! (Truth Serum Copy.) Example: I’ve been negotiating deals for a long ass time. Recently… I’ve been negotiating prices on newsletters. After decades of deal making… I’ve figured out the words to use that get people to open up and tell me their “bottom dollar price.” How valuable are those words? To find their true bottom dollar? Well… Depending on the size of the transactions you regularly deal with… Hundreds to millions of dollars per use. I am often… But not always… Pleasantly surprised at what peeps bottom dollar is. I just had a newsletter seller with a 15,000 person list and 30% open rate tell me his bottom dollar. If I had to buy 15,000 leads on FB in this niche… It would cost me MINIMUM $5 a lead. $5 x 15,000 =$75,000.00 But I applied my “truth serum” copy… And guess how much he wanted? Bottom dollar? $4,000!! What if I didn’t have my trusty “truth serum?” And I offered $1 per sub… And offered $15,000 because I didn’t know how to get TRUTH on the table? I’d pay $11,000 more than I had to…at least! I say at least because if I would have said $15,000 and he had any negotiating mojo, he’d counter with a higher number. Do you see how valuable the bottom dollar truth serum is? Now… Because you’re Ronin I want to invest in you and give you the truth serum on me.That way we can all do more super profitable deals. But… I could use your help… If I were to offer the “Bottom Dollar Truth Serum” copy to the public.

Just from your brief description and example of the real world value, information like that is and can be quite valuable to the right people. And even though I think you could sell it for more , if you offered it for $97 straight up, it could create a great overdeliver. Just a thought.

I love smart people. I also see smart people try to figure out everything in their head. Look... You can not learn to ride a bike THINKING about it and IMAGINING riding a bike. I don't care how smart you are. I don't care how good your imagination is either. You can be Einstein mixed with Picasso. You will not learn to balance and ride the bike trying to imagine every possible scenario. 👉Investing and business is NOT school. 👉👉👉You don't get paid for getting the right fucking answers! 👉You get paid for producing a RESULT (and then if it's not the result you want, you adjust and take another action.) You will grip the handlebars nervously... And you will be wobbly AF. You may even fall down a time or two... But everyone learns to balance if they PUT THEIR ASS ON THE SEAT AND GO! Ronin style investing is the same. Most of our "struggle" is in our head. "What percentage/amount should I offer for X, Y, or Z?" There is NO RIGHT ANSWER...especially as a HYPOTHETICAL drama we are playing in our HEAD! Last week, I made a lowball offer of $1550 for someone's newsletter. (I offered about 15% of what I thought I could go out and buy the leads for. How did I come up with that? I pulled it out of my rectum mostly, but I know it doesn't MATTER. I'm trying to get the negotiation going.) They came back and said that seemed awfully low. My response: 👇👇👇 "I understand. I'm not trying to get you mad at me. I'm married and can make my wife mad at me anytime:-) I'm just trying to work within my budget. Instead of me offending you further... What's the lowest price you'd accept without being mad at me? Thank you, Travis" ☝️☝️☝️ Their response? They complimented my humor... And said they'd do the deal for $4,000. BOOM! 💥 (BTW: This is for a 14,000 person subscriber list with a 30% open rate with multiple monetization options.) We will negotiate more over Zoom, but we're in the ballpark . There IS NO RIGHT ANSWER. There's only a number that gets the DEAL DONE!

Cold Outreach: Do they treat ya like a HO?
Yesterday at about 9am... I researched 54 Substack Newsletters I'd consider purchasing. I uploaded the names and emails to SmartLead (Cold Email Service) at about 10:30 am... Then I went for a leisurely 2 mile walk... When I came back... I already had FIVE replies. Four were "I'm interested in selling." This morning, I'm up to SEVEN. (Click the attached pic. Even though the preview looks blank, it works when you click it.) There are 4 follow-ups to go! Is my high reply rate because... 👉 of my "copywriting"? or 👉is it because I am positioned as a BUYER/INVESTOR? 😁 Imagine if I was positioned as a SELLER? "I can help you grow your Substack Subs? You wanna? You wanna?" I'd need to send 1000's of cold emails to get five serious replies. This is exactly why we want to BE AN INVESTOR! The game is easier and more fun; we make more money and don't have to take shit from anyone. Do you think any of these conversations were where I didn't buy for some reason? That we won't do any business? We can apply this to all of our reachouts. Take the Substack Cash Co-op we've been talking about. What do you think would get a MUCH BETTER RESPONSE? 👉"Hey, Dumbo, you're not using the Founder Spot. I can help you. Wanna jump on a call?" or... 👉"Hey, do you accept paid sponsorships?" I know from EXPERIENCE... #1 you will need to send 1000 emails to get 3 to 5 responses. They will also treat you with LITTLE RESPECT! Numero 2, you'll get 5 responses from 10 or 15 emails. They will roll out the red carpet for you like you're a King or Queen. Now... I know you wouldn't say "Dumbo"...but a lot of times, I see outreach that basically says, "You are making mistakes. It's your lucky day! I can fix them." They HEAR, "DUMBO!" Does that make sense? 👀You can be treated like a Ho or like a King/Queen. It's all about how you position yourself. ..and more importantly... Accountability partner
I’ve come to the conclusion that I really need an accountability partner. I’m struggling with being on my own as a solopreneur. I have some really great ideas and I’m not staying on track the way I want to be. So I’m wondering if anybody here would be interested in having an accountability partner. It would be just that – for accountability. The form I would like to take would be a daily or almost daily check in for even maybe just five to ten minutes or so. See what we’ve done, See what we’re trying to get done, and encourage each other to keep going. With a little butt kicking in there too. As needed. Or something like that. I’m open to suggestions.
