Not sure if there's a one size fits all but I'd generally duplicate the ad and just keep the winning variant. Had it a couple times where I've just deleted the non winning variants in the same ad and the ad tanked

Yeah try a mix of videos/images. Do a DCT and consider changing the offer. To be completely honest, the creatives look like they could've been made in paint and don't look very professional. Also hard to tell 100% what's not working without metrics

I've had this a couple times and there's a few things that help - Figuring out your "why" helps but I'm sure you've already done that - Have some exposure to the things you don't want to do. If it means working an internship in whatever you're studying for a few months it might help you stare down the barrel of what you'll be doing every day if you don't get back on the horse - This one's a bit out there but if you remember the first ever exposure you had to SMMA (youtube videos etc.) go rewatch those and you might get the same feeling of excitement when you first came across it - If you already know you can succeed it's simply just a motivation/discipline thing. I found it really easy to do work in class as there'd be grades/teachers holding you accountable, but it gets hard working on the business sometimes because you're holding yourself accountable. Just break the cycle and find one day where regardless of whether you feel like working or not, put in a good few hours into the business. Once you get that momentum going even for one day it's easier to stick to
