FInding a good Tailor.
What are some advice for finding a good tailor? I feel it is a lost artform. I have been lucky & found one at the dry cleaners by my job. All advice is appreciated.

My problem in Nashville is that all the tailors are either extremely expensive and hard to get an appointment with, or... they don't speak English as their first language and communication is problematic. I generally go to this Chinese woman who does great work near me, but I have to know exactly what I want when I go there. I need someone who understands style and taste, and can make educated suggestions to me to help me look my best. Bonus; her husband runs a shoe repair shop right next to her place and while I generally shine my own shoes, I will take them to him once in a while to get a good solid conditioning job done. Fantastic work from both of them.
Concert night
La crosse symphony concert tonight. Still stubornly insisting on wearing my made to measure Indochino wool and cashmere tuxedo even though we are required to wear a long black tie. I paired it with a nice herringbone white made to measure shirt. It is somewhat inappropriate to wear this style of tie with a tuxedo but don't care. I refuse to buy a plain black suit.

My Next Meetup
Hopefully, Nashville,TN in either Spring or Fall of 2026. I'm being optimistic. Hoping to meet @Brian Lambrecht , @Christopher Knuffke and whoever else lives there. Perhaps others may want to think about it.

Oh definitely. Hopefully my work schedule will be back to remote work and I have a life again.
What are the different types of Overcoats?
Winter is coming. Do you know your coats? What does each offer? How does a gentleman go about discerning and finally deciding on which coat fits his needs? Look no further, good sir! Hugo Jacomet delivers an incisive and cogent overview of the many elegant overcoats within menswear. If you like this commentary, then you may find his YT channel of great interest where he explores the topics of tailoring, mannerisms, and cultural issues of the modern gentleman. Also, he is always impeccably dressed...a sartorial exemplar! Enjoy!

I have a topcoat similar to his first coat in style and length but NOT made with cashmere like his! Mine is camelhair color but made of wool.
Which Actor's Persona?
Many actors can play a variety of entertainment venues; Cowboy, Business, Comedy etc Which actor is most satisfying across the spectrum according to you. Which actor has the looks, mannerisms and charisma that you would like to emulate?

I really like Jimmy Stewart in westerns, where he is tough and even a bit brutal when he needs to be, as opposed to a lot of his "gee golly" roles in those Frank Capra films he kept doing. I also like Humphrey Bogart in his later films when he flipped from being the heavy in most gangster films to being a romantic lead. Considering he landed Lauren Becall, he obviously was doing something right.

I'm a PR manager from Chicago, now living in Nashville, who had to reinvent himself in his life this past year. This group is part of that journey.
