Epic fail
Remember these two fun guys? Their spore prints failed because it’s been too dry. However, when they shrank further, beautiful patterns emerged! Hmmmm…. I tried printing with them. Noooo!

You win some, you lose some. We learn from our experiences and keep moving forward 😊
Foraging expectations surpassed!
Exhilarated - gasp of delightful surprise! Check rear view and wing mirrors, efficient execution of illegal U-turn, retrace route with activated hyper attention- ah ha! Confirmation of successful mission accomplished! I found Michaelmas daisies! (My son’s birth flower is sentimental to me) I am sharing my foraging discovery with you.

Ha! I did this exact thing for a willow aster recently! I took a little runner and it’s already starting to grow!

Well, today is Wed so I’m a little late, but yesterday a kestrel visited my house, more specifically, my carport. Some of you may recall from a recent post I made about 4 bluebirds, 2 starlings, 1 mockingbird and one shrike. The kestrel was in that exact location, probably looking to predate on whoever was occupying the box. I have mixed feelings about this because obviously I have an emotional connection to most of these birds, but at the same time, predators are part of the food chain and are indicators of a healthy ecosystem. To me, this is affirmation that I’m on the right track on my yard rewilding journey.
Indoor basil planting
Yeah, I know growing basil requires a tons of sunlight and indoor planting sounds risky, I still give that a shot. I mean why not, especially I do have servers grow lights and a fan to allow air circulation. So, I grown three batches of them from seed last month and at least four of them survived and seems like they’re still growing. Hopefully I can actually using them for cooking in the future.

I love basil and other fresh herbs, but never had any luck growing them myself ☹️ good luck, fresh herbs are so delicious and refreshing 😊
Color/Colour
Florida’s color changes are subtle compared to Northern tree’s spectacular show.

I’ll admit, although I’m aware of the phenomenon of the admiration of leaves changing colors, I never really “got it” or got into it. Now I feel so much more in tune with nature and seeing the leaves changing colors gets me excited for what next year is going to bring. It’s the start of a new beginning!

Recently purchased a house on 2 acres in Texas. The yard had four small trees and Bermuda grass. I’ve since been on a mission to plant native plants.
