Active Listening
Most people think listening is about staying quiet. But real listening is an emotional skill and we move through different levels without even realizing it. From Self-Centered Awareness to Emotional Attunement, each stage reflects how connected we are to our own internal state and to the person speaking. The more emotionally aware we become, the more present, grounded, and effective our communication gets. If you want to improve your leadership, relationships, and conflict resolution skills, start with this question: Which level of listening do you spend the most time in and which one are you working toward?

These last two are so important, and what I try to do as a psychologist! In society, we are so often taught to "listen to fix/judge" that people can feel misunderstood or invalidated, since these are not what they were looking for, and can interfere with connection. I try to reflect and validate before providing anything else, and that taps into the listening to understand - showing them that I am trying to see if I understand what they were trying to convey correct first, and then expanding from there!
Create Lasting Impact
Positions come and go. Titles shift. Careers evolve. But the way you treat people stays with them. Your behavior leaves an impression that shapes how others experience you long after the role changes. Leadership isn’t measured by status. It’s measured by character, consistency, and how others feel in your presence. Choose impact over ego. Choose integrity over position.

This resonates so much! Some of the most amazing people I had the privilege of working with left this impression on those around them (including me), and what I believe to be a sign of true self-actualization šŸ™Œ
Repetition Is Underrated
Repetition builds emotional intelligence. There is no trick to it. Naming your emotions feels hard on Day 1. Pausing before reacting feels hard on Day 1. Setting a boundary feels hard on Day 1. By Day 1,000, these actions become habits. You rely on them automatically. Repetition creates emotional clarity, stronger boundaries, and better decisions. Keep going. It gets easier.

Oh love this one! This makes me think about neuroplasticity and automaticity, which underlies so much of our habits, good and bad. You can literally rewire your brain for EQ habits through repetition šŸ™Œ

@Luis Castro that is such a great metaphor for neuroplasticity. Cheers to building the grand canyon of healthy habits!

Power Accumulates Through Repetition
EQ grows through simple, intentional habits. This visual captures it clearly: 🟠 Speak with intention Pausing before you talk creates space for clarity and better outcomes. 🟢 Listen with depth Focused listening helps people feel understood and builds stronger trust. šŸ”µ Respond with calm Grounded responses create stability and strengthen every interaction. šŸ”· Observe with awareness Reading tone, patterns, and energy helps you understand the full picture. Emotional Intelligence is a daily practice built on awareness, presence, and deliberate action. Activate to view larger image,

These are great steps! It is easy to think of EQ as just a single entity, but it really is a collection of essential skills and practices that you can foster. Your posts really highlight that!
