New shoe day!
I ordered two new pairs of shoes on Cyber Monday, capturing some great deals. The TLB Mallorca shoes for Mallorca Spain arrived a week before Christmas. These came from the same city but via Cobbler Union. Not exactly breaking speed records but one of their customer service representatives kept me up to date throughout the process. These are my first Chelsea boots in about 15 years and I knew nothing about men’s shoes at the time. I also recently retired my last pair of suede shoes. Therefore, these babies fill two gaps in my wardrobe. Their beautiful deep brown is fantastic and I am in love with the soles of the shoes. They also seem to fit excellently. One disappointment is that I expected lasted shoe trees and these are not even boot shoe trees. I do welcome any feedback on Chelsea boots benefitting from boot trees vs. just shoe trees (having or missing an extension beyond the ankle).
New shoe day!
@Dr. Jason Cole That makes total sense! 👌 I love how thoughtful you are about protecting the shape of your shoes. Using lasted shoe/boot trees as your first choice sounds smart, and it’s great that the Chelsea boots seem to benefit even with the simpler boot trees. It’s interesting to see how the evidence will guide your choices for future Chelsea additions. Do you usually test new trees on a pair first before committing to them for your whole collection?
@Dr. Jason Cole That’s a really smart approach testing a pair first before committing to a whole set makes perfect sense. 👌 It sounds like your collection is nicely curated, and having trees for almost every pair will definitely help maintain their shape. Out of curiosity, do you rotate the trees between shoes, or does each pair get its own permanent tree?

Critiques welcome! Indeed - I have one: I think this dress shirt is too big on me. I might be time to retire it. It can take studs but it's also not a proper black tie shirt. Office is finally warm when I walk in again. They made quick work of getting out the old HVAC unit and putting in the new one. Today's Outfit Shirt: David Donahue dobby diamond pattern on French cuffs Slacks: Hart Schaffner Marx wool black slacks with no cuff (!) Vest: Hart Schaffner Marx charcoal herringbone 5-button wool vest Tie: Berma Bilas repeating geometric patterns with black background, blues and whites for the shapes Belt: Mont Blanc black leather belt with silver buckle Shoes: TLB Mallorca black whole-cut Oxfords (lovin these) Socks: Fort Belvedere Black with white dots OTC dress socks Cufflinks: Fort Belvedere silver eagle claws (dual sided) holding black onyx spheres Watch: Movado Museum classic 40mm mirror face stainless steel watch Pocket Square: Mansphil solid navy silk pocket square ( @Jessica Montgomery Roxie - maybe the one I should have worn yesterday...) Gloves: Fort Belvedere cashmere lined lamb Nappa leather gloves in midnight blue & gray

@Dr. Jason Cole Thanks for sharing! 😊 I love cufflinks too, especially the rare double-sided ones having something interesting on both sides is such a cool touch. I also use an AI system I’ve built to help craft outfits, and when I start tweaking things, I often use the pocket square either to tone down something bold or to integrate two different aspects of the outfit. In that way, it really contributes to the overall presentation and reflects the “mood” for the day. I’d love to hear more about your approach and connect further we can continue chatting here in the comments or via DM if you’d like!
@Dr. Jason Cole That sounds like a solid approach! 😄 Going dark naturally throughout the day probably helps you recharge between tasks. The client work really does never stop, does it? How do you usually manage to switch gears and keep focused when things get busy?
Welcome message
Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Jessica, new here and excited to learn and connect with all of you. I’m really looking forward to sharing ideas, picking up tips, and just hanging out in this space. 😊
@Scott Brown Thanks 🙏
@Darren Poesel Thank you so much! 😊 I’m really excited to be here and can’t wait to dive into the RMRS classroom. I’ve already started looking around and there’s so much great content really appreciate the warm welcome!
Have a drink, on me!
The coin arrived today! Granted, it was a month late, because of USPS doing what USPS does. (....I swear, USPS....) However, in spite of USPS, it has arrived! Thank you all! Also, thank you @Antonio Centeno . The card and coin are going into my tour case. So, when the band goes on tour, you will be going on tour with us! Whatever your favourite drink, pour a glass, on me!
Have a drink, on me!
@Scott Brown Cheers! 🥂 So glad the coin finally made better late than never, right? 😂 I love the idea of it going on tour with you it’s like a little lucky charm! What’s the first drink you’re raising in its honor?
Quote of the Day (QOTD)
A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.
@Ryan Evers So true! 🌱 Comfort zones feel safe, but growth only happens when we push ourselves a little beyond them. What’s one area you’ve recently stepped out of your comfort zone and learned from?
