About "hustling" 🤬!
"Hustle was never meant to be a permanent state. It was a survival tool that has now expired." - Dr. Mariel BuquĆ© This quote hit home... We've been sold hustle as an identity. As proof of worth. As the price of admission for anyone who wants to build something meaningful. But what if the very thing driving you is also draining you? Dr. BuquĆ©, a psychologist and trauma expert, explains that for many of us, especially high achievers, children of immigrants, anyone who's had to prove their place—hustle wasn't a choice. It was protection. - Hustle kept us safe when we didn't feel "enough." - Hustle gave us control when life felt chaotic. - Hustle was the armour we put on so no one could see the soft spots underneath. And it worked. It got us here. But here's the catch: What once protected you now just weighs you down when there's no battle left to fight. If you're feeling: - Exhausted but unable to stop - Successful but empty - Driven but disconnected from why ...it might not be that you're doing something wrong. It might be that your survival tool has expired, and your nervous system is still running on emergency mode. The neuroscience? (My fav!) When we operate from survival hustle, we're stuck in sympathetic dominance (fight or flight). The brain perceives not hustling as a threat. So we keep running... even when no one's chasing us. The way out isn't more discipline. It's safety. It's letting your system know: You can rest now. You've already survived. Now it's time to build from wholeness, not from lack. I shared a little bit more of my story / about this topic HERE. So here's my question for you today: What would you build if you stopped building to prove you belong and started building from a place of already belonging? Are you already doing that? Drop a comment if this landed. šŸ‘‡

The last few years the notion of a 'side-hustle' has pervaded the self-help industry, and so 'hustle' is a buzz word. But you're right, Lydie, not everything in our fast-paced world needs to be full throttle. I like the Slow Food movement. Reflection has its place too.
What's my purpose?
How do you find your purpose? Is it your 9-to-5 job? If so, that's great, right? But if not, what then? Is it your hobby? That's great, but how do you turn a hobby into a job or a business? Is it something you are passionate about? Just like a hobby, can you really turn your passion into a job or a business? People like Steve Harvey say that your purpose is related to your gift. He says that everyone is born with a gift, every single person, and that your gift is something that you do "naturally", without thinking, without effort, without really having to work hard at it... it just comes to you easily. Sometimes or often, you are surprised that other people can't "do it" like you can. Other people, such as Simon Sinek, say that your purpose is related to your "Why". He proposes to ask your best friend (and it must be a friend and not a spouse nor a family member, even though they might be your best friend) why they are friends with you. He says that this question might make your friend stumble with their answer, at first, but eventually, they will get to what it is specifically that you bring to their own lives, and that is your "why". And finally, there are people like Tony Robbins or Dean Graziosi who suggest that we have multiple purposes, sometimes simultaneously in our lives, and sometimes at different times, which are related to our values and beliefs. And that you have to dig deep inside of you and/or ask why you do something and go 7 levels deep (basically ask "Why?" 7 times) to get to your heart's or your soul's "why". I believe that your purpose, your why, your gift is something that drives you without you needing to drive it. It is something that you want to learn more about without needing to be motivated to learn more about it. It is something that wakes you up at night and puts a smile on your face. It is the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing on your mind before you fall asleep. It is what others say you're good at, and to you, it is nothing or easy or "natural".

@Marek P. Those last are excellent questions. Well written. They are exactly what we should ask. I think your scenario answers itself. I believe values do develop in childhood, and if one is supporting those while succeeding in a role, using skills one has developed, then one IS happy - I think dissatifaction comes when we AREN'T taking actions that fulfil us.

@Marek P. I think you encapsulate the concept of 'purpose' (the reason something is done) in your comment "... I was an engineer for a while, but that was because I am good at problem-solving. I was a high-school teacher for a while, but that was because I am a teacher at heart and was looking to contribute more to society. So, now I am looking for something else where I can do both. As a teacher, you're using the instinct that impels action to illuminate, to show what something means - if that instinct is dominant, you'll want to learn why and explain why. And if you can do that while supporting the things that matter, which is your desire to help people be better fathers - that's energising!
I Spent $175K on Self-Help. Here's What Nobody Told Me
I just published the most personal thing I've ever written. Full story here: https://aligncore.ai/letters/i-spent-175k-on-self-help/ The short version: I spent 15 years and $175,000 from my inherited childhood home trying to fix myself. Self-help books. Motivational seminars. A SPECT brain scan where they told me my brain had small dips like someone had been scooping it out with a tiny spoon to taste it like frozen yogurt. They prescribed a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and $600-every-six-months supplements. I stopped ordering a year ago. I'm still alive. I bought 250 copies of Ed Mylett's book just to spend a day at his house. His neighbors were Adele and Justin Bieber. He was tan and intense and cool. I cheered. I felt awe. But deep down all of it felt like a stage performance: beautiful, emotional, motivational... but rehearsed. It's like I was watching a 2025 video generation AI produce an intimate scene in real time right in front of me: cool looking. No real intimacy. At least that's what I saw with the mindset that I had at that time. I didn't realize that until later. I did 75 Hard while working nine-hour FedEx routes. Made it 28 days before I started forgetting package numbers and losing my train of thought mid-sentence. My manager said I was one of the fastest AND most accurate drivers they'd ever had. So the discipline was clearly there. The direction wasn't. None of it stuck. Not because the advice was bad because I think every single guru taught me something real. But I never stopped to ask the obvious question: does this make sense for ME? I figured it out by accident. I was SO excited when this feature came out: I connected ChatGPT to my journals in Notion. I was looking for patterns. I was looking for anything that could give me something. Something that made sense to me. A sign that I had core values. That I had a North Star. The response made me tear up. A thread I'd never seen: every meaningful thing I'd ever done (the dance crew with my brothers, the dot technique I invented for Color Guard, the systems I built at every job) was the same thing.

I'd read, Aaron, but it doesn't load for me. Is the link right?
MrT Has Arrived!
Hi Guys, I know some of the guys here already and you know who you are and what to expect from me, but the rest of you be warned it is time to wake up and be real. I am open, honest, raw, hard working, and push others to be the best version of themselves as it is easier than pushing me, LOL . My Introduction: - I am on a wild journey, if I told you you wouldn't believe me, and if I did tell you, then I'd have to kill you as it is a secret. - What I want to accomplish is to transform an in person done for you service into a fully digital offering using platforms like Skool etc and retire to a white sandy beach making surf boards, just not yet though. - The problem my business SOLVES, I keep business owners out of jail, by simply ensuring they keep everyone including themselves safe at work. - The šŸŒ world I live in is the UK mainly, but I work globally, last year in UAE, Ireland, and UK and in 2026 I am launching a digital compliance project into the USA. - What gets me FIRED UP is helping others and winning at life and my favourite sport. - I have already built something to change lives, I am now changing this to change even more lives because a digital offering has a huge reach if I get it right, little old me with global reach, go figure. - For fun, I love Music (with a rock biased) but extremely eclectic, I love rugby, F1, boxing, Six Nations, Northampton Saints, Travelling Internationally, Making friends, 😊 I also liked to play rugby and box, i aim to learn the Guitar this year to and I've started to compose lyrics. - I have had both Cats and Dogs so no preference, I do love a cute animal picture/video. - THINGS you should know, I'm of an older generation where honour, integrity, trust, respect, grit, and doing the right thing are not just words. Being big enough to apologise when you screw up and I do, frequently. I have been loved twice in my life, I have been widowed twice. I have five amazing daughters, I am a grandad to 8 and a great granddad to Moo Moo my first great granddaughter. I am passionate about my business. The rest you'll have to figure out as I am a complex puzzle with some of the pieces missing down the back of my metaphorical sofa. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if I like you well be friends for life. Come say Hi, I don't bite hard not on a first date. 😜

Relentless A C T I O N
Go all in!!! You said this was gonna be YOUR year? Then act like it! Stop talking about it and start moving like it's real! No more one foot in, one foot out, no more half effort in back-up plans! You know you're capable of accomplishing what you want, so stop playing with your own potential! That old person of you is dead! Those old habits you had are dead! Burn the bolts and give yourself no choice but to be successful! Understand this, you keep saying you want a different life, but you're still living like you got time to wait! So you must go all in! Because when you do, you leave fear and doubt behind! There's no more short parts, no more excuses and no more half efforts! Your only option from here on out is relentless action! So stop living life like you're just testing the waters and start living life like there's no turning back! Going all in means you stop negotiating with yourself, you stop looking for shortcuts and you stop hoping things will get easier! You fully commit to the process, even when the work is brutal and the results are slow! Because successful people don't wait for the perfect moment! They create it by going all in! So make the choice today! Stop holding back! Stop waiting for permission! Go all in! Fully commit and take everything that you ever wanted! Good morning! Partly transcribed... He said it best HERE Does this piss you off? Or activates you? Maybe it's too much for the central nervous system but stuff like this makes me wanna jump in a ring and start boxing something. LOL.
